i have an LED and I cut off the light from it. I have copper wire and i sanded it on each end of the wires. Then, i connected the copper wire to the LED wires and i wrapped it around in aluminum foil to keep the wires in place. Then, at the ends of the copper wire, i connected them and no heat is being given off. Does that mean that there is no electricity being flowed through the LED to the copper wires? Please Help me i am desperate.

Quite possibly. Aluminum foil is a conductor, so you might be shorting your circuit out.

Soldering works best for connections. Barring that, try electrical tape - it's non-conducting.

If you plan on working with a lot of circuits, you might consider buying a kit from Radio Shack. They have breadboards that you can insert the ends of your components into and then remove them so you can try a different arrangement or try a completely different circuit.

You can also buy a multimeter very cheap so you can actually measure whether or not you have a current rather than just feeling the temperature (if you have a very low current, you might not be generating enough heat to feel it).
