Another poster is on the right track with buttermilk but I'd go even further.
My son's pediatrician recommended dense preparations of lactobacillus acidolphilus for a similar problem. Worked perfectly.
You buy these from the refrigerated section of a health food store or a pharmacy, and they should be date-stamped, you would want to make sure they're fresh.
If the preparation contains bifidus bacilli also, so much the better.
These preparations offer as much lactobacillus as several liters of plain yoghurt or buttermilk. The packaging should indicate the dosage. If statement is not precise enough, for a child under 8-10 I'd cut adult dose to half.
If your little tiger is rinsing with salt water, make sure he rinses before and not after the lactobacillus prep. He shouldn't eat directly afterwards, either, perhaps allow an hour or more.
Hope all goes well.

What happened? anyways i bit my tounge earlier this year, while i was eating pizza. but it wasn't no little bite, because i was chomping on that pizza, so when i bit my tounge, well i cut into it. so what i did was put a washrag on it, and aplied pressure to stop the bleeding. If your son did the same thing then make sure he don't eat citrus foods, and stay away from pepper and salt. Just in case you thing the tounge has skin on it then your wrong, if that were the case then my tounge would be white, like my skin color, and that would be gross, but it don't have skin it's just a muscle.
You say he has a sore, if anything bring him to a doctor, no matter what.

Its just a Herpes Simplex 1 outbreak, like a cold sore. No cure, just treat the symtoms with salt water rinse, or over the counter preps. Ive had them for 40 years on and off. Usually the result of an injury like biting your lip, or an opportunistic infection when your resistance is down, when you have a cold or something.

If your talking about the taste buds that swell up.... its a reaction that can be caused by eating spicey or acidic foods. Not much you can do about them. I've sucked on TUMs or any other anti acid tablet. You can always cut them off using a nail clipper. It is kind of a gross thing to do, but it works. It will bleed a bit afterwards but the bump will be gone.

Rinse your mouth with buttermilk several times a day. Swallow when finished. This will help restore the flora and fauna in your mouth and digestive system and will help you get rid of the tongue ulcer.

I put salt on them and that clears them right up. It also makes them stop hurting almost immediately. I hope this was helpful!

just take a glass of warm water, stir in just a little salt (maybe a teaspoon), rinse your mouth, and spit. DO NOT SWALLOW SALT WATER.
