there is no god, there are no miracles.
if you survive the impossible, it has a lot to do w/ you. when you want to live, your body and mind is psyched up. it goes into survival mode. that's pretty much why when people give up hope, or sink into depression, they are less likely to get over something or survive something.
it's psychological and physical. the mind controls the body. god has no say in it!

Just by the way; did you ever noticed that whenever we wish or pray for something, we all, irrespective of religion, look up in the sky. Do u know why?
The answer to the question "why is it always Christianity?":
Its what you see because you are in some Christian population (Majority) and You see that people even non-Christians behave like that. If there is soem other relgion in the community, it might get the hit.
For "they think, it was God":
Because if they see that the event was so much drastic that it caould never be possible for a man to save them. It seems that it needs some super natural force and the first choice is quite logically God. God of any religion they know.

Because the God of Christianity is the only God who loves His creation and desires a personal relationship with each person. All other religions either have no god, or it's god is remote, cruel, or uninterested. God has put a desire to know Him in our hearts, and when the chips are down, we realize we need Him.

I've thought this often, and I thought it again the other night while watching the special on the elevators in the twin towers. I noted that the two elevator operators moved to FLA and "devoted their lives to god."
I pictured them spouting the usual nonsense - "god spared me" "god saved my life", etc.
Naturally I thought, well people, god let it happen in the first place, so ....????
I don't actually believe that - I'm an atheist - but it's a logical progression that if god existed, and saved you from something, that he caused the something in the first place. So silly.

When people are desperate they grasp at straws. Statistically, every once in a while some one will overcome the odds in a given situation. If they happened to have prayed out of desperation, they may, in their fragile emotional state, credit god for the outcome. The fact is, that for every long shot positive outcome, there are, perhaps, thousands of negative outcomes. The positive outcomes have been shown to be in line with what would normally be expected by chance, and there is definitely no correlation between positive outcomes and religious disposition. Statistically rare positive outcomes are equally likely for atheists and muslims and christians. In fact, all studies, even those initially indicating bias, have clearly proven there is no correlation between prayer and positive outcomes of any sort.

Because there is only one god. Belive me. Little things have happened to me. You know how it's really hard to get rid of warts? Well one day I prayed that my warts would go away (I had about 5 little ones on my hands) and the next time I actually studied my hands, they were gone. God did that. God listens to prayers. God answers. Read the bible. That's the real thing. Not twisted at all.

Because they often see or experience something that gives a glimpse into the afterlife. It should tell you something that people who did not believe in God become Christians. They are finding out the truth.

Always! You sound like my wife. "You always do that." You never do this." Nothing is "always." But OK, sometimes. Because most people who claim to be non believers, atheists, or agnostic really aren't. Someone once said, "There are no atheists in fox holes.

When people can't explain something that's going on, or can't rationalize it they tend to fall back on "blind faith" that it's some kind of omnipotent power and the mostly widely understood "god" they perceive is the Judeo-Christian deity.
