Hmmm... for cat, I would say you need a 100 and 1 exotic animal. Seriously who is going to remember the lady with only 18 cats... you got to get up in the 100 and like I said 1 exotic animal to make the newspaper.
My mother has 11 pit bulls which are not small dogs- so I think you aunt is perfectly sane... my mother on the other hand....
She even has bed rooms for her dogs with mattress made up on the ground for their beds.

i think of two cats for one person is unquestionably fantastic. 3 must be pushing it somewhat. of direction, once you're married or residing with a greater robust half, 3 might ok. And in a family members undertaking, i think of there may be one puppy for anybody interior the family members, with exceptions for animals that stay in cages or tanks. now and back I hardship that when i'm finding out to purchase my cats' stuff people will think of i'm a loopy cat woman too, yet it quite is their difficulty no longer mine. as long as your cats are not taking on your existence and your place, no concerns.

Anything over 6 makes a person crazy! My grandparents have 30+ but all but 4 are outdoor cats. They literrally by an entire bag of cat food (the large ones) and dump it into a huge pan to feed all of them, like they are pigs at a troff... Its crazy.

If the cats are socialized, that is they come when called and don't run from people, it's not too many. Expecting you to remember them all is a bit unreasonable though.

Depends on how big your house/property is and if they're indoors or out. Does her house smell like cat piss? If so, she's nuts.
If she can have 18 cats and maintain a clean, odor free home, she's doing better than a lot of us.

they are destructive and evil.
they pee on most every surface,
Their claws have poison from licking their anus and their scratches have sent people to the hospital.
Let outside the kill birds and upset the balance of nature.
If they bury their feces in a garden and produce is used in baby or child foods they can get deathly ill
All domestic felines found outside not on a leash should be killed.

about 4, lol
cats are independent things anyway
they all need their own 'space'
if there's too many other cats around, its not very healthy for them
