Yea, So I got a tattoo on my ankle on 11-28-06 and it's already went through the peeling phase! However, every morning when I wake up, the tattoo looks like it really messed up, almost like its still peeling! But when I put lotion on it, it looks a little better! What's Up With That? Is this when retouching comes in??? =)

Try taking better care of it,moisten it a few times a day so it doesn't have a chance to dry out!

First it peels, then it gets that dry feeling with white-ish edges for awhile. Keep moisterizers on it 3-4 times a day. DON'T overdo the lotion, or you will pull the color out. Just leave it alone. If you don't like what your seeing, go back and ask whoever did it, they should have explained everything to you anyway.

Sounds like its really dried out, but I'd go to the tattoo place that did it and ask them just to make sure its not bleeding ink, because that soon afterward it shouldn't be messing up. They have a kind of "paste" type stuff at some tattoo parlors that will kinda put a protective coating on it that you might need to wear for a few weeks.

No, the peeling look will stop eventually just keep it moist . dont ever push more ink into a tat that isnt healed fully. should look normal w/o lotion within a week or two if not then you may have an allergic reaction to the ink.usually that gets really nasty

because it is on an appendage even tho it has peeled, because of less circulation it will still have a slight covering of healing skin. it happened on my foot. my foot actually took close to three weeks to heal and everybody is different. so just keep putting lotion on it a few times a day. wait til the skin is completely soft and smooth again then you can decide if you need a touchup.

You shouldn't need retouching after one month. Your skin is probably dry due to the cold weather and the lotion helps with that.

My son says to rub A&D ointment on it and keep it on there. Sometimes if you don't there is raised scaring that distorts the tattoo, but it is hard to tell for a couple of weeks if it needs to be retouched.

This is most likely what we call "silver skin". It should go away after a month or so. It is just the final stage of healing. Touch-ups are usually the best after about 3-4 weeks. I hope that this helps!

If you can peel the entire thing off I would and start over on a different place. I had the same thing happen to me now I have to get the whole thing covered up.

I got my tattoo there too in August. I have dry skin on my legs so it does the same thing.
