No. Too much water also is not good for health. I think you have experienced that if you drink too much water you fell somewhat unease. The same for the daily water input.

I also drink about 3 or 4 litres daily and dont really exercise, I think its ok as long as you're not drinking down a whole litre at one time.

You can definitely lose too much salts and nutrients, since the mroe you drink the more you pee. If you feel you need more liquids try replacing a glass of water with one of those sports drinks that have minerals, and also have more soups especially clear soups at mealtime, as well as fresh juices. Avoid replacing water with gatorade or red bull as these contain taurine and caffeine and are not good for the body on a regular basis. Also you could just add a bit of salt to juice or squash.

My doc encourages me to drink water in excess of 3 litres/day. But, i get dehydrated very easily and cannot consume large amounts of carbohydrates; pedialyte etc.

I used to drink pints and pints of water a day. My GP told me to cut back as my blood salts were getting low and he thought the amount of water I was drinking was to blame.
Get your blood salts checked (by a simple blood test with a nurse), then you'll know if it's causing any problems.

Drinking water is never bad... although if you're typically thirsty for more then 3 lt a day, you might want to be checked for diabetes or something...
