In my opinion, there's no real difference between French Champagne and American "sparkling" wines. Just like I don't find a big difference between a Cuban cigar and a Dominican or Honduran cigar.
The aficionados might have a different opinion - let them spend the big bucks for that 1% difference.

The one thing that is special about Champagne is that is IS Champagne -- i.e. it comes from that place, made to the rules of the area.
The guy making wine outside cannot -- by definition -- have the same terroir, which is the combination of soils, weather, climate & etc.
Does it taste better? Well there are hundreds and hundreds of different Champagnes. Large brands and small one man winemakers, big blends and single estate wines.
Some other sparkling wines are better than some Champagnes and some Champagnes are better than other wines. It is all down to personal taste.
Champagne making is legally controlled -- from what varieties can be planted, how much can be produced, how it is made and more. New world wines are not. Does that make Champagne better? That's a matter of opinion, but what is a fact is that it is one of the things that make Champagne special.

The importance & quality of Champagne is not the soil or terrior. It has to do with the skill & ability of a workforce that does just one thing: sparkling wines.
Doesn't matter what field you are in, the specialists always do a better job in their specialty than a generalist.

The French are finicky about terroir. This might be the one thing that would impel them to military action. But there are other sparklers every bit as good. It's just that there are lots of poor-quality sparklers that try to cash in on the reputation of the French wines. In still wines, there's a similar problem with the term "chablis."

Venue glasses. Honestly, for US, custom-made glasses and cake lifters, and many others. have been simply now not on the most sensible of our record for matters that we cared approximately. We used what the venue furnished. I do desire we might have requested for a nicer slicing knife regardless that. The one in our photographs used to be a reducing knife from the kitchen! Lol! But it is not fairly a massive deal. Strange adequate, we did get custom-made toasting and shot glasses hand painted with red roses by way of a nearby artist (our colours have been red, black, and white). We ended up forgetting the glasses have been on the finish of our desk, so we by no means used them. I instructed you it did not fairly topic to us! Personally, cross together with your private style. Splurge on matters that fairly topic to you. I have a buddy who bought lovely toasting glasses and used that photograph in her thanks playing cards. They appear robust. If you desire to splurge right here, do it. If you're like us, and do not fairly care, then do not suppose careworn to shop for anything that does not constitute who you're. Sure, you CAN purchase low priced $30 glasses, but when that is the case, they usually would possibly not grow to be valuable heirlooms, simply low priced junk, why even hassle? Good good fortune!
