For people like me, I will talk to them about what Jesus has done for me, because I love them and I do not want them to live in hell on earth or the other hell.
I have found that Jesus has solved all my problems and has made me a different person.
Christianity is the only religion where I have ever see people changed on the inside first and then on the outside over time.
Most religious people try to change themselves without the help of God, and it does not work. You cannot change yourself anymore than you can keep your New Years resolutions.
When I have asked people if they have kept their resolutions the answer is NO, but I tried to.
Born-again Christians have love, joy & peace in their lives no matter how bad things get.

I am not that religious. I am one that believes God wants none to perish, that all would come to repentence and receive ever lasting life.
I believe that God loves us and sent us Jesus to show us the way. I am a Christian. Muslims just don't know Jesus yet. So, as a Christian, I would love it if they found Jesus, the real one.
Jesus loves the Muslim people sooo much. So, He wants them to be born of God also (reborn spiritually). When they have rejected Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God (if presented correctly) they are guilty of rebelling against the True Elohim. So need salvation.
Too many Muslims think they need to kill oppressors / unbelievers of Muslim faith. They are actually guilty of killing innocent. One of the worst sins. So, there end could be the lake of fire.
When it comes right down to the root of it. Do you believe in the Biblical Jesus Christ? If not, then you will be antichrist. He who denies the Father & the Son is antichrist.
The one who doesn't want people to come to Gods saving grace is actually the spirit behind the religion. It is an antichrist spirit.
As far as Christianity goes, it is God the Father who draws a seeking individual to the The Truth. It isn't my job to convert anybody. But, I am commanded to go forth and preach the Good News of Gods saving Grace just like any other Christian.

You answer your own question with negative disrepectful answers. I am sure that you are smart enough to think of positive answers as well. So why didn't you? I think it is because you really dont have a question but wanted to try to abuse some of Gods people. If you deny that was your intent, which is beneath a wise persons contempt, then I would suggest you apologise and rephrase your question without your own evilly suggested answers. Why do you choose to believe the evil report and not the good? Is it because there is an element of will in this? Yes of course.
The fact that you ask this question shows that you do not know yourself or human nature very much , hence I conclude that you are young and immature, especially because of your choice of words which reveal your mind. I say that because your being concerned means you are concerned about what people think as well and don't like something about Christians and God fearers, and are trying to persuade and convince others to your view. You are then trying to convert, so look inside yourself to find the answer. Becasue you think you are right and so right , you conclude that our endeavors to preach the good news and spread the good news are erroneous, but it is because you have a belief system as well that it conflicts with, so you should take not of Jesus' saying, "before you try to take the plank out of your neighbors eye, take the huge mote out of your own".

For me it is because the message of my gospel is such a wonderful message, that I would like all people to enjoy it. It has been a comfort to me in times of hardships and death. Whenever, I hear on the news that someone has gone through some terrible struggle, I always think, "I wish they had the knowledge I have, so that they could be comforted." Also I would love to see everybody obtain Salvation.
I guess it is really just that when I find something that is wonderful and can do good for mankind, I want to share it with the world. Now I don't go up to every person i meet who is not of my faith and start preaching to them, I just live my life and hope that they will see my example and want to know more.

hey now, let's lay off pirate points.. the Flying Spagetti Monster has nothing to do with converting people ;)
They all feel a need to "convert" because their religious tenets state that some form of punitive afterlife will come to 'non-believers' and it is their responsibility to convert these people or the blood of non-believers will be on their hands.. or they will receive some kind of reward for having converted them (jewels in their crown, etc)... you know, like sales/marketing campaigns where you get bonuses for the number of sales you make or you get fired if you don't make enough sales. There has to be some sort of enticement/punishment because, let's face it.. human beings are notoriously self-centered and want to know, "what's in it for me?"
I like being pagan. We don't need to convert anyone or spout off the numbers or lay claim to being the fastest growing religion or the biggest or the best. We accept that what's right for you is what's right.

Honestly I don't care if someone believes differently than me. I only care about what God cares about. Jesus commissioned all His followers to go out into the world teaching what He has taught by example. I only care that I'm fulfilling my part. If a soul is saved in the process then I have cause to rejoice as do all the angles of heaven and I am exceedingly glad.

Religion provides purpose, and it provides hope for those who don't necessarily find it on earth.
or
There is strength in numbers.
or
People seek out like minded individuals.
or
Rewarding experiences such as successfully converting people is gratifying for some, so internal rewards provide the motivation to try converting more people.
I mean, the question could be expanded to 'why does anyone do anything?'

I suppose it's because Christians and Islam are the one and only true faith to their respective believers.
IMHO evangelism seldom works long term. It's okay to willingly and thoughtfully convert to another religion but those who convert under pressure are likely to convert to something else by the next evangelist.

I do not feel this need, but I am not a xtian. I am Asatru. Even if you wanted to convert to my religion, you probably couldn't. You have to be able to eat lutefisk and at least pretend to like it.

I not only have no desire to convert people, I tend to discourage conversion.
My path is not for everyone, and I'm not interested in investing my energy into people who are dilettantes. So a potential initiate must convince me that s/he is completely serious, and also that this is the correct path for them.
