In the last 5 years I have left on International flights 8 times and while TSA sez 3 hours I have arrived as much as 90 minutes before the flight and was OK...it is your own preference but don't be upset if you show an hour before and are denied boarding....

The airlines say 2.5 to 3 hours. So if you like to play things ultra safe go with that. What always ends up happening is you end you sitting around for 2 hours...

In reality I dont think you need that much. Arriving 2 hours before should be plenty. Be aware that often international check-in desks will not allow to check-in within an hour of your flight. So you nefver want to cut it close.

For international flights they suggest that you are no later then 2 hours prior to your flight time. If you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have tips on traveling. You want to make sure that you leave plenty of time in case the security lines are long - you wouldn't want to miss your flight.
