I would rather join the Army than go to jail. If you join the Army you get to serve your country and they will pay for college.

The reason most people don't like the army is because of religious reasons. First Islamic extremists use religion to fight a holy war against the US and all Christians and Jews. Second, Christianity has been used to fight Islam going all the way back to its forming. Think about the crusades, they were only about religion.
Next, school, the army is not your best choice for school but it will pay you to go free when you are in and give you money when you are out. The army will also pay you back for student loans when you join. But, to the same point when you are in jail the government will pay for collage also. You lose many of your freedoms in the army, but you lose more if you are in jail. Plus, you lose the right to vote if you are in jail.
Now back to your question, when I was in high school and after I got out i was getting into all sorts of trouble so the decisions I gave myself was the same as the one you are asking, jail or army. I chose the army.

Well if you had no choice, yes, the army. However, army is NOT the way to get an education. Only a fool would join the army in 2006. There are student loans, pell grants. I know as a fact that people still don't fill out their FAFSA forms to even see if they qualify for loans or grants. Work your azz off in school and places like here in Jersey, college is free. Don't ever fight a rich man's war, when you have a choice. Honestly, I rather go part time and work, rather that have Bush as my boss. In fact, that's exactly what I did, everyone can if they applied themselves to finish. As for jail, if your smart, keep yourself out of trouble, you're not going to go to jail. No matter what they say, knuckleheads are the majority of people that are locked down. Obey the laws, don't drink and drive, stay away from drugs, and don't steal. Don't hang out on the street. That's how you stay from jail.

I'd like to say something to younglady who answered this question. I, have a masters degree when i joined in 2004. To say that people who join the army are stupid, truly need to keep their mouths shut. I joined because I wanted to, not because i could not get a job. I wanted to protect my country and my family. I do not approve of what we are doing in iraq and afghanistan, however, it was my choice, a choice that i am proud of. Perhaps you should try to improve yourself before putting down people who willingly join the military and give you the right to such ideas. You should just say thank you, and that would be enough. But until than, keep your mouth shut.
And please keep your religion out of this topic. The religious bs is in another room. Didn't i see you at the funeral for the soldiers with the sign that said something about god loves dead soldiers?

The military and war in general is an archaic, outdated system that hasn't been needed since the musket days. Wars are just for corporate profit now. The only people who join the navy, marines, army, coast guard, and air force are people too stupid to get into college by normal means. The only requirement for being in the military is being able to count to three and being from a poor, expoitable neighborhood. Please visit my useful church link and see that the military is not for Christians. http://www.ucc.org
Jail, however, contains smart people, like Enron executives and famous Catholic preists. But still, neither one of these options are good, sign up for chior and tune up your voice and go on American Idol and you'll have all the money you need for college. Or just go to a really cheap school.

Wow! Slap on your stupid yellow bumper stickers and wave your flags but bow your heads in shame b/c if you won't fight for your country and all they it affords you, you are a true born loser, coward, and selfish. If you would rather go to jail, then cross the border, cuz we can trade you in for an imigrant that would be more than happy to take up arms to defend a great nation such as the US.
I did my 4 and am very proud!

i would get straight a's in high school so i could go to college on a scholarship NOT paid for by the military.
if you haven't got straight a's as of yet, not to fret, go to a community college they are really cheap, get a's and b's for a year, then a major university will give you a scholarship, i would hate to see anyone join the military, that is no place for a christian man. go to the website below to get your free money and you can afford a community college with that plus a part time job.

In these days the option of enlisting rather than going to jail is no longer available. The military services don't need lawbreakers; they have enough problems maintaining discipline as it is.
