My dad had Hep C and fought for like 3 yrs to get it. He even had a occupational specialist from the state saying his infection and peripheral problems were so severe that he couldn't work with any consistency to maintain employment and STILL did not get it. It was hard for me as I worked in mental health and knew junkies who got SSI for just being junkies. It's an unfair system as there are inconsitencies between states and agencies. Get a lawyer and prepare for battle.

Do you mean disability?
Hep C would in no way affect your regular Social Security retirement benefits.
Unless the Hep C has caused long-term (expected to last for at least a year, I believe) disability, no, Hep C would not make you eligible for SSI payments. Disability is determined by the Social Security Administration on an individual basis, and by very clear definitions, which can be found online.
If you are unable to work or care for yourself, but have been turned down by the SSA, you might need to find a disability attorney. If they aren't willing to take your case, then you probably don't have one!
