The Mormons believe basically the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored by a modern day prophet named Joseph smith.

The Book of Mormon [is] an account written by the hand of Mormon upon plates taken from the Plates of Nephi

Wherefore, it is an abridgment of the record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites—Written to the Lamanites, who are a remnant of the house of Israel; and also to Jew and Gentile—Written by way of commandment, and also by the spirit of prophecy and of revelation—Written and sealed up, and hid up unto the Lord, that they might not be destroyed—To come forth by the gift and power of God unto the interpretation thereof—Sealed by the hand of Moroni, and hid up unto the Lord, to come forth in due time by way of the Gentile—The interpretation thereof by the gift of God.

An abridgment taken from the Book of Ether also, which is a record of the people of Jared, who were scattered at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people, when they were building a tower to get to heaven—Which is to show unto the remnant of the House of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever— And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations—And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ.

all of our beliefs, and publishings, and teachings can be found here.

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541
1 We abelieve in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the bword of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Joseph Smith

ps - We are not a cult, we dont practice poligamy, (although for a brief period in the 1800's we did, as there were so many mothers with children, who had no one to take care of them, so God commanded that some men take on some other fatherless families. We no longer practice this. Im sure there are other reasons, but i wont get into it.) We are a Christian Church, and we welcome everyone. Those who still practice polygamy today are NOT part of our church. We believe that EVERYONE in our church should recieve as much education and knowledge they can.

Lots of good things.
LDS.org, missionaries, mormon.org are good ways to find out.

Ex-mormon sites, anti-mormon sites and people who hate the church are not reliable sources to find out what we believe.

They believe "as man now is, god once was...and as god now is, man may become." That means god was once a regular guy on some planet just like we are, he made it to the celestial kingdom for his world, became a god of this planet, and had billions of spirit babies (from large numbers of resurrected wives), who became us. If we're good mormons and make it to our celestial kingdom, we can become gods, too! Yipee!

They believe a fortune-hunter name Joseph Smith had a person visit from god and jesus and told him to make a new church because all the others were wrong. That he was led to golden plates stored in a hill, which he translated by use of magic rocks (sometimes he'd put the magic rocks in his hat and read the translations even when the "gold plates" were nowhere in sight). This is the "book of mormon," which is supposed to tell the story of ancient americans, and that jesus visited them, but has no connection to actual ancient american history in any way.
They believe in multiple wives, even though right now they don't practice it 'cause it's illegal. They believe in secret rituals in their temples, borrowed mostly from the freemasons, in which you give signs and tokens ("passwords and signs to make it to the highest levels of heaven"), some of which indicate various ways life can be taken if you reveal the secrets. The believe in "blood atonement" -- that some sins are so horrible not even jesus' blood can earn you forgiveness, so your own blood has to be shed. They believe in magic underwear ("temple garments"), which they wear all the time and ascribe magic powers of protection to. They believe in "health to the navel, marrow to the bones, power in the priesthood be upon you and upon your posterity through all generations of time and throughout all eternity." (that's the final secret phrase to get you into the celestial kingdom, and the celestial room in their temples). I could go on and on...
