I am making a fruit salad. Is a stoned cherry something that can be found in the market or do I have to stone them myself?

The term stoned refers to the pit. Cherry seeds are stones. A stoned cherry has had it's pit, seed, stone removed.

You can certainly buy stoned cherries in both of the grocery stores I frequent: Safeway and Trader Joe's. They're also just pitted cherries.
