It's certainly possible to drink MODERATELY and lose weight. I did it. But you need to understand nutrition and what kinds of drinks are loaded with simple carbohydrates--there are books that tell you how to manage a low-carb diet with some drinks.

A quick tip: beer is really really bad. But red wine is actually good for you. Just don't drink too much: a glass or two twice a week should be fine.

Ok, Ive NEVER heard that alcohol will keep you from losing weight. That sounds like a big myth! But remember, most alcohols, especially beer, are usually full of calories! (maybe carbs...) And you're 19 hun, the body is still changing and doing stuff. And how do you drink underage? lol...nevermind. Be careful if you drink so much (even just once or twice a week) That can turn into a nasty pattern, and has nothing to do with your weight at that point! Good luck and Happy Holidays

It is possible that you are getting enough calories in you drinks to undo your diet. You must account for those calories too. If I were to guess though, I suspect you are eating more calories than you think. Calories have a way of sneaking in like the cookie or candy you ate without thinking, or the taste tests as you are cooking. Are you measuring your portions? If you are estimating your portions, I can guarantee you are underestimating how much you are eating.

Lastly, the weight you are at now is considered healthy. You have a BMI of 25 which puts you at the upper limits of normal. Maintaining your current weight would be excellent.
