But seriously, if you react violently, you're only solidifying their beliefs. Give them something they don't expect.

I'm sorry, but if I was dealing with as much racism as you indicate here, I think I would move. Every time you go out?? Why would you want to live somewhere like this? Life is too short.
There are so many wonderful communities you could live in where you wouldn't have to put up with crap like this. Whether you ignore it or confront it, it's still going to make you feel like sh*t and upset your day. Move somewhere where people actually give you a nice greeting when you go out. You probably won't even have to move that far away.

call them something back.... dont listen to ppl that say just ignore it because it is easy for white ppl to do no one is racist against them they seem like that dominate race in this country... African Americans built this country but we get no respect...I say just tell them that you are a not a ****** or ***** how ever ppl may say it but you are *****, of dark color, and you would rather be that than a non colored pale rude person....

Call them out on it. Be nice and polite but make your point. Make them look like a jackass. That's what I do when people try to push me around.

I'm white and I don't believe the N-Word should be used; by blacks or whites. Just tell them that you're proud of your skin. If they persist, let it go. they're probably looking for trouble.

Call them on it -- LOUDLY.
People do it because they can get away with it. If every time somebody made a bigoted remark, somebody shouted out loud, "You just said "...", that's very bigoted!" -- you'd probably see it happening a lot less. Not even racists like being called racist in public...
