I agree with you. Illegal immigrants lower the quality and standards of America. With dropping wages, the overpopulation, hospitals closing down, so many people on welfare, etc. the American dream is sure to be a thing of the past. We are headed straight for 3rd world status.
I can't believe some of these answers... Come on people! It doesn't make you hardworking to have rich parents that send you off to an expensive college!
I am 22 years old. My family is considered middle class. There was no college fund sitting around. I moved out of my parents house, after high school, when I was 17. First, I had two jobs. One full time 1st shift job and a 2nd part time 2nd shift job. Fresh out of school, I didn't have a lot of options for employment. I was working jobs that paid somewhere between 7-10 dollars an hour. Not good. I picked up a third job working weekends for a catering service. Working 3 jobs at that pay rate is sooooo far from the American dream. I'm married now, working one job and going to school. Do you people consider me lazy because I'm not living the American dream?

it type of feels to be that in case your hostile to unlawful immigration, you're a racist. i imagine the individuals (US voters) does not be so annoyed about the unlawful immigration themes if it became not costing tax payers $2 hundred+ Billion a year, of which a million/2 is going to regulation enforcement/ penitentiary expenses through criminal events through some illegals. In CA, over 50% of the individuals in state penitentiary are unlawful to the U. S.. maximum human beings do not want a socialist society the position those who do not artwork or pay taxes get tax payer funds. that's really an economic problem, not a human beings problem. Securing our borders is needed for nationwide protection. revealed comments when you consider that 9-11 have said that folk have entered the U. S. illegally who're from counties that are on the U. S. State branch's list of Terrorist subsidized countries. this may concern each and every man or woman interior the U. S. - criminal or not.

You might want to do some reading-maybe start here:

The headline reads "Bush Administration Quietly Plans NAFTA Super Highway" and is from the Conservative Weekly. It goes on to talk about the North American Union. The highway will run from Mexico through the US to Canada. This a bit amusing because Bush has completely fooled Republicans, the left gets blamed and conservatives waste an immense amount of time hating liberals for what the Bush administration is actually doing.

The British came over and STOLE this land from Indians, and killed them for it when they tried to defend it. YOU are an immigrant too. Don't forget it. What right do you have to protest it?
I am a legal American, born and raised here. But I had the same obnoxious attitude as you until I started going around the world and seeing different countries. And what did I find? Alot of kind hearted and caring people. Poor but kind hearted. They don't care about a buck like Americans do. Americans are cold hearted. I am one of them too and I am guilty of it too.
I think that Illegal immigrants who break the law, steal, kill or rape should be deported, yes. But there are many kind hearted hard working people who feel lucky to be in a free country. Alot of the other countries are so far backwards, behind and third world (I have seen everything from Europe, to third world countries like Venezuela, and found even the poor still have kind hearts).
America has lost its sociability and kindness long ago. You can't even say hi to a stranger on the street without them looking at you like you are insane. What kind of a society is that?
(give me a thumbs down, I don't care - but open your eyes before you judge)
Alot is taken for granted in this country. People in other countries dont even have food. In Venezuela, most of the people are poor and dont even see 200 bucks a YEAR. They live under sheets held up with sticks under freeway passes and steal soap from markets so they can wash up cause they cant afford to pay for it. Five year olds beg for money and if you dont give it to them, they will pull a gun on you. I have so many stories I could write a book.
But hey, that does not mean that I am anti American. No. I just think that things in the world should be made a bit more equal.
And whoever works the hardest deserves the job and pay, it has nothing to do with nationality. It has to do with upbringing, respect and willingness to work hard.
Also, yes, American inflation sucks and pay rates are not keeping up with it at all. THAT does need resolution because people need to be able to have a job that pays enough to cover the cost of living (as long as that person can do the job and works hard).
Blaming it on immigration is not the right thing, thats all.

The American Dream. What to you is the American Dream? I work full time and go to Nursing school (paying for it out of my pocket) have a nice home, a nice family and husband. I'm happy with what I have done with my life. Alot of people won't reach the American Dream cause they are to lazy to want to accomplish anything.

Too much rambling for me. My answer is no. I guess if you're "several generational American" you can act like you're a victim. I'm 4th generation American, and my great grandparents achieved their (and inherently ours) American dream back in 1897. Maybe they worked harder?

ok moron, prepare for a little education.
first, "underminded" is not a word. you "undermine" somebody, so you would say "have not undermined." also, "too" means "also" or "as well." "to" is the preposition you're looking for. ie: "i'm going to the store." "i'm going to allow this to happen." "i've been there too."
second, if YOU fail to "achieve the American dream," that's YOUR fault. millions still do it ALL THE TIME. there are still successful people in this country, and there are people WORKING TOWARD and ACHIEVING success every day. just because YOU are not, doesn't mean nobody is.
also, the problems in society which exist are not BECAUSE of illegal immigrants. they are merely a FRACTION of the problem. we have underlying problems already that are unrelated.
