Heaven is when one is in Denver Airport with 1000 canceled flights and yours is the ONLY flight allowed to take off.

Hell is when the flight gets canceled 2 mins before flight time, and you live a 7 hour drive home from the airport, with the roads filled with slush and snow.

If you are really interested in whether God exists, and are struggling with the validity of Christianity, I have two books to highly recommend to you. One of them is More Than A Carpenter, by Josh McDowell. McDowell was a former atheist that converted to Christianity after examining the claims of Jesus. He went straight to the primary sources in Europe and examined what there was to know about Jesus Christ and the faith.

Also, if you struggle with the science aspect, a great book is The Language of God, by Francis S. Collins, who was the director of the human genome, and clearly one of the leading geneticists in the world and a credible authority on science and the faith. He writes about how science and faith can be in harmony, if we just look deeper beyond the surface. To stubbornly adhere only to science or Christian fundamentalist thinking would be a huge disservice to our intellect or to our pursuit of the truth.

But to answer your question more directly, I do believe there is heaven and hell. It's hard to imagine what heaven and hell are really like, after all the Bible doesn't tell us much, and for a reason... we don't need to know all the details. It's hard for me to think that the afterlife could be so black and white (i.e., whether we go to heaven or hell), but I think all we need to really know is that heaven is really good, where people have to suffer no more, and hell is not so great.

People speculate a lot on what heaven and hell will be like. I think it is enough to know that our souls will be safe and happy if we go to heaven, but who knows how bad or lonely it'll be for our souls if we go to hell. I imagine that there is also a spectrum in both heaven and hell. Not everyone will be rewarded equally in heaven, and not everyone will be punished the same in hell. I assume this because there is some mention of it, and also I believe God is ultimately just. Some people also think that heaven is just being in God's presence, and that alone is so amazing and great. The same people might say that hell is simply not being in God's presence, where we are alone to fend for ourselves against the evil spirits that exist. Either way, however you want to describe or label it, I believe the afterlife exists and that it will be different for everyone according to God's judgment.

I think hell is man made. It was designed to discourage certain behaviors that the framers at the time found undesirable. Heaven does not need hell. If I have $1,000,000,000 and I say if you are good I will give it to you do you really need me to threaten you with a fiery death if you are not good? No. The lack of the reward is reason enough not to be bad. If I need to threaten you with death so you will not be bad and forfeit the billion dollars obviously the money is not good enough. So the concept of hell essentially states that heaven is not good enough to want on its own merits.

I believe in the existence of God and Heaven and Hell, as well as billions of people around the world do...

When a person dies, he is treated according to his deeds; good or bad

Hell is nothing but an absence of Heaven. Just like black color is due tonothing but the failure to reflect/pass any light, while white color is due to reflecting/passing light of all colors. It is unfortunate that the Abrahamic religions and cultures have actualized Hell to such an extent that people believe it is an actual, physical place.

Yes heaven and hell do exist. Read the Bible and it will tell you all you need to know. Revelations is a good book to read about this.

I hate to break this to you. Miracles do not exist either. With all of my knowledge, personal opinions, and experiences I can safely say without a doubt that no religion is based in reality. When humans die their brains no longer function and so in a human's point of view death is nothingness.

The Christians have no more proof of their God than any other religion, actually a lot less, as their book contains more contradictions as it is more comprehensive than most.

Who knows.

Nobody knows and nobodys ever will know cause nobody ever came back out of hell or heaven to tell.

That's why people believe. Believing means = not knowing.
If we would knew, we would not have to believe.
