I would like to know, in detail, some of the basic steps involved in software developement. I am 20yrs old. The concept is to develope a learning tool using flash MX and Quicktime. Can I get some assistance through internet for the same?

If you mean to actually develop a tool/package to create courseware using Flash, good luck. That would be probably more work than a single person could accomplish. But hey, maybe you're the one.

Other than that, an in-depth knowledge of Flash and ActionScript would be good. Also, try a few of the links below.

Other things to look at are design, human factors, and instructional systems design. Look for companies that develop online training - some will have examples or at least screen shots of the kind of products they turn out. They'll run from basic HR/in-house training up to very complicated simulations of highly technical subjects.

Look at job postings and see what kind of skills they want. Look for keywords and research on those.

Unless you can really come across with some great demos you've done, it might be tough getting a job without some sort of certificate or degree.

PS - I'd be thinking of Flash video as opposed to QuickTime. Also, for any software training, look into screen recorders like Adobe Captivate. You might also want to look at authoring tools that can incorporate Flash learning objects and other media elements, such as Lectora.
