I suspect there will be some protesting and unfortunately violence. I can potentially see such a scientist being murdered because he/she (according to the religious nuts) created abominations that were likely the spawn of Satan.

I hope i'm wrong but I doubt it.

I'm sure the abomination that will result from their attempts to play God will take care of the scientists themselves. Quality of life should be more important then trying to create life to prove a point...or are you forgetting that in your support of creating artificial humans?
