Me my husband and 2 kids (2&4) moved from England to Canada 6 mths ago. Everything is great, husband has a great job and we own our house/car outright, BUT I get so upset being so far away from my family. We were very close and they were great with the kids (nothing was to much for them). Will things get easier?

i can totally empathise with you over this. i live apart from my famiy and it is the hardest thing in the world anyway, never mind when you have kids. I'll be honest, it hasn't got any easier for me, i will always miss them and wish we geographically closer. what has helped though is my webcam. You can't reach out and touch them but it's as close as you can get. i hope this helps.

I think things will get easier for you. It hasn't been very long since your move, and it is hard to adjust to a new city for many people-- myself included. I live in a neighboring state to my parents, but we don't get to see each other very often. Usually 3 times per year. It can be hard, sometimes, but we have lived in separate states for over 10 years, now. We tried to move back, but unfortunately, the job market and real estate is not as good there, and it was hard to adjust. But it could certainly work out differently for you, where you move back after a while due to a job transfer, and be able to be with family again. I cope by exchanging email with family every day and phone calls once per week, as well -- we take turns calling. I hope this helps, and I wish the best for you.

Yes. things will get easier. I'm from Toronto myself and now live in Michigan. It was hard at first, and my kids had to adjust. hook up a video cam to your computer and stay connected that way. Thank goodness for the Internet eh? Especially myspace.com. Through all of these genres I stay connected to my fam. We send cute emails, recipes pictures, things of interest. What better way to then to log onto the Internet and see an egreeting from a far distanced relative? Create a page on myspace. Good Luck. Merry Christmas!

yes it will get easier. Save for a computer and get a web cam, have someone help your parents get one too and set it up for them. That way the kids can see them and visa versa and it won't be so bad.
I bet if you live in a large city you can find other people who have recently moved there from England and maybe you can start a coffee and tea group. Get your children into organized activities, where they can meet kids and you can meet Mum's.
You never know who can steer you towards a wonderful club or activity.
Go out for walks with your kids, to the park and meet new people....
Call the Welcome Wagon service in your community and have a visit with them. They can be helpful to new comers.
By the way, welcome to Canada, a wonderful country I might say.....
Happy Christmas

Any of the billions of human beings interior the international can be a chum, co-worker, and so on. yet we basically have some human beings that are kin. assemble information, write out the execs/cons and bypass with what you make certain.

YES things will get easier (hopefully), you were just use to being around family so much, now that your not with them anymore, this gives you a chance to focus on your own family. You will get used to it out there, you can plan a visit to England maybe once a year.

Things will get easier. What we did with far away family was buy a web cam for each of you. For Christmas connect through your IM provider, then you can spend time together. Sometimes you just need to see each other. This is a relatively inexpensive way to see each other whenever you want.

Things will get easier in time. You have only been there for 6 months. Give it some time. Get out and make friends and keep busy.Enjoy the family you have in Canada and plan vacations to see the rest.

Talk to them on the phone as often as possible; go home for frequent visits. Yes, things will get easier, unless you dwell on how sad you are at being so far away.
