discipline and motivation, and yelling but the key word is "hands off". MCRD shouldnt be a place where little dick DI's needing to go on a power trip to compensate for what they are lacking. "hands off" is the key and also not depriving the recruit nourishment after a hard day of basic training. i bet most drill instructors dont even whip their own kids but have the nerve to beat up a recruit in their platoon. my question is for a law-abiding country, the USA, is this, why do the majority of u cover up for sadisitc drill instructors in the marine corps?

I'm a Marine.
I can tell you I was hit once and it was an accident, and later, the (not little DI) 6'7" 220 pound DI took me in the duty hut and let me know it was an accident in private and he apologized, showed a little compassion. As for withholding food, that only happened during the Crucible, and we knew that was coming. I ate more in Boot Camp than any other point in my life.
Boot Camp instills discipline and it makes you the best there is. Sounds to me like you are one of the puny scrubs that we took outside and whipped the crap out of after lights. Probably came home and cried to your mommy about how tough it was. Go join the freakin Air National Guard you big baby.

If you were a Marine, you would be proud and glad that part of your life was over. I think you never even had the nads to face the recruiter, and if you did you are angry becuase you could not complete the training for whatever reason. The 2 MCRD's are proven training facilities that are only the begining. Do you even know what MCT is. I doubt you made it that far. To answer your question, why cover for someone that is just doing their jobs. Had you gone through boot camp and graduated, you would be a man with no need to ask these questions.

Cookies are deemed contraband. they don't seem to be allowed in Boot Camp. This recruit were given off straightforward. DI's jobs are to prepare boots for worst circumstances because of conflict circumstances. What if this recruit became ultimately a POW? Do you imagine the enemy will be so type as to allow him to eat a cookie? interior the protection force you would possibly want to make sacrifices, some which will keep your existence or the existence or your acquaintances. If he can not take care of doing with out his Mama's cookies, then he should not be interior the Marines. This DI should be counseled for the pastime he did. tell your pal to strengthen up. next time he would chained up with a blindfold over his eyes with an AK-40 seven pointed to his head.

Can't speak for the Marines, but I can speak for the Air Force -- as far back as 1990, when I went through basic training, the TIs were not allowed to touch you, nor were they allowed to withhold food or water. I was told in the earlier days that Marine DIs were allowed to "slap" you but they weren't allowed to punch you or beat you up, and the only time they could withhold food and water was if you were caught breaking the rules. Haven't heard any Marines reporting beatings or starvation in the last decade, so are you sure this USMC boot camp brutality you speak of is true? Is your source of information reliable? If you DO have a reliable source I'd like to see it.

Alright, numbnuts. This is your last question because you ran out of points. How can someone be Level -1? Sounds like you were picked on most of your life and you were expecting something different in Marine Corps boot camp. You were probably drawn to the rich history and hoped to have a bit of that glory for yourself. When you realized that you actually had to work for it, you lost your motivation. Don't blame other people for what you failed at.

I don't believe your in the Marines. If you are you're the biggest cry-baby,Ive ever heard.Maybe the Air Force is more your speed. No Offense to them, their mission doesn't demand the hardcore training Marines need.

All the people saying this piece of FOD can join MY air force... he can go join the girl scouts... he doesn't have the mental capacity to deal with the mental stress that goes on in the air force... the yearly PT tests would probably be "Air Force Brutality" to this whiny puke... yes the girl scouts would be good for him

I don't see where what happens in a man's world is any of your business. if you don't like it, don't go.
DIs are the best before they are DIs. Your opinion of them is based on your own worldview where perhaps you are guilty of the very things for which you accuse others.
The people who protect your sorry a&& don't want their bootcamp, their rite of passage, to be a patty cake session with a bunch of mushy guidence councellors. What would be the point?

And again we will tell you that yelling at some one will not make them war ready. Do you think your enemies in battle will yell at you to stop? Grow a pair. You signed up to be a Marine. Act like one.
