I am a retired Police Officer that has and still does investigate Internet fraud and scams. I also advise law enforcement. The ones found on this site that are questioned are the more basic stupid simple ones out of Nigeria and out of Nigerians in other countries. Yahoo, MSN, Microsoft, Free Lotto,(out of New York), which has a new scam out claiming to sell legitimate lottery tickets for a monthly fee and a thousand others are all scams. Microsoft in not in the business of giving their stockholders money away in lotteries. Heres a helpful hint. Check the spelling of the words on these scams. The Nigerians on most of these scams will also spell words incorrectly, check their spelling. On the same type question I answered on this site the scam spelled "FIDUCIARY", a word they like way to much, wrong. What I find humorous here is the repeating of "Great British Pounds". Are there British Pounds that aren't so Great? The next step will be that they want you to send a tax payment or a payment to cover the cost of sending your winnings. This is a very common scam and is really getting over used.
