I have tried several programs, they all keep saying that they cannot play the DVD because of something about a copyright. This is not a burned or illegal copy of a movie. It is one that I rented from a video store, and I am only trying to view it. Anyone have any suggestions??

Two possibilities:

1) It only works on a settop DVD player, not in a computer, due to some sort of copy protection on the DVD

2) You somehow got the DVD with the wrong region code, but then the error should say "region code error" or something like that.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
