Again and again people ask "If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" But could please someone explain why they think there wouldn't be monkeys anymore if we evolved from monkeys?
By the way it is more correct to say that we share a common ancestor with monkeys.

Tough question, I assume that people assume that when a species evolves the entire species disappears or that it's an almost overnight transformation. In reality, subsections and or "local" groups may go down one path while others may take a different one or not change.

Because for the believers, its always all or nothing. So if we evolved from monkeys, all monkeys at one point would breed humans and die out.

Unfortunately, truth is much more complicated. Its easier just to say God did it, than actually study and learn something.

We did not evolve FROM monkeys, we evolved WITH them. They are our cousins. I mean really, how do you explain 97% similar genes between us and Chimps?

Yes, common ancestry. That's the best way to put it and I'm pretty sure that's the way scientists put it as well. But religious idiots, as usual, have to twist the words.

your last statement is correct, we have a common ancestor.

Well u know frogs are still here, why are we not amphibians, who can walk around?

It's a dumb question, your first proposition, no offence.

Your big toe doesn't grip. Why! Because we have evolved to walk upright. We branched off, like a tree, if u like that analogy.

How come they've found whale sculls in the desert?

because they went back to the ocean eon's ago.
What do u think a blow hole of a whale is? It's a nose.

good luck to u.

Evolution is not a straight line, things branch off.

AND WE DIDN'T EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS. It is much much more correct to say we have a common ancestor. Please go read some of the answers to your last question. I spent a little time writing mine, and you obviously didn't read them.

Because of the whole idea of survival of the fittest. If we evolved from monkeys that means we are better adapted than monkeys to survive so naturally monkeys would die out because they wouldnt be able to survive

But if that is not true i would ask why the evolved specis that link us and monkeys do not still exist, and are not around in the same quantaties as humans and monkeys

evolution from species to species doesnt make much sense to me b/c how does the DNA from a reptile transfered to its baby miraculously turn into that of a bird's DNA. if u dont believe in that sort of evolution then where are all of the fossils of our "common ancestors"?

to me evolution just doesnt add up. its really difficult to live in a world when we dont even know how we got here. i think its all just something that we made up to feel more comfortable in this world, without having to bow down to a god and follow rules He has set 4 us.

Well u can't have it both ways. If u say u believe only in evolution, than how can we come from monkeys, if there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many varieties of humans? Chinese with different eyes, whites w/ white skin, blacks with black skin, Puerto Ricans etc. w/ light brown skin? Evolution in it's simplest terms is completely flawed. If we came from monkeys according to theories that CANNOT be proven, how on this miraculous earth, could there still be even one monkey?

I'm sure that it's mostly because the creationist propaganda organizations tell them to say that over and over again. It's kinda like chanting a slogan.
