Try to keep somthing in your hand, such as squeezing an exsecise ball. If you do that, not only will you be stronger, but you'll forget about your knuckles!

Just stop cracking them for an hour at a time. Notice what you're thinking about when you start cracking them. There's probably something bothering you and cracking your knuckles distracts you from the problem. Address the problem. Also remember if you crack your knuckles it creeps people out who might otherwise want to be around you - and whom you would like to be around.

LazlaHolly is mistaken I believe.... its been proven that if you crack your knuckles you are more likely to have arthritis when you are older... if you keep your hands busy you wont have the time to crack your knuckles.

If it is a habit, which is sounds like it is, just get another habit. It sounds weird, but try giving yourself a small pinch on your arm everytime you realize you are cracking your knuckles. Hope that helped and that is the answer you were looking for.

The only way is to just stop.
But why do you want to? It is not harmful in any way, although the sound might be annoying to those around you.
Many habits can be overcome by simply thinking about them, reminding yourself not to do it when you catch yourself doing it, and giving it time. I remember thinking I would never stop biting my nails, but quit within a few months of deciding to, and haven't bitten them regularly for over 30 years.
