It seems sad, 2 of "The big 3" monotheistic religions even after all these years, still have fascism imprinted in them. THey both say they're right and the other is wrong,
Cant they look in a mirror and see that human kindness and love should come over they're fascism and intolerance.

It's all about love for your fellow man. Not damnation.
Your fellow man comes before a god/allah that demands intolerance, ignorance, and lack of respect for mankind.

You make a very good point. But people are so entrenched into thinking their religion is the ONLY one and the only RIGHT one that they will fight and kill for it.

Small minds, but there are many. So many have died, and will die in the future based on their religious beliefs of what is right and wrong and how others should think.

You sound like someone who can see the whole picture, look at both sides and be rational. Religious fanatics can't, nor can we understand their warped thinking. I think it has a lot to do with brainwashing at at early age. These people were never taught to be open minded, their religion was too strict to allow thinking. They are truly damned and stuck.

For humans to grow, and have fewer wars, the masses need to practice more of what's preached instead of preaching what we should believe.

Good question!

Neither religion teaches hate. They both teach intolerance. The difference is that the Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God and Muslims and Jews believe that he was another prophet. The problem is that both the Christians and Muslims have 'forced conversion' as part of their doctrine. This has resulted in the crusades in the past and it has also resulted in the chronic attempts of Muslims to destroy Israel in recent years even though Jerusalem is a Muslim holy city. Your question is a good one and it will not be answered be zealots on either side.
Only time will tell if there will ever be a monotheistic religion that is capable of tolerance, however, given the past 2000 years history, I doubt it.
Christ himself taught love and tolerance by the way, his legacy however has been twisted by others into the most perverse set of doctrines ever seen except maybe those of the Muslims, who have always believed in conversion by force. Mohamed wrote in the Koran that non-believers should be converted, killed, or taxed out of existence.
Sounds real tolerant, eh?

Actually Christianity does not teach hate. It is how people percieve and interpret the christian doctrines. Many Christians leave out the 2 most important laws
1. Love God with all your heart and all you soul and
2. Second to that is love your neighbor as yourself.

I think that teaches love, I think that second one is either not used as often as it should be or it is misused. Otherwise, I cannot explain it.

I believe you are correct about Islam, I don't know for sure but I here the doctrines are full of wrath, revenge, and hate. Scarey stuff.

Christianity has never taught hate, but some of the "leaders" have used the name of God to do evil, no doubt about that. Its not based on chrisitian teaching though, its based on human evil, greed and hate. Christians are taught to love their enemies, not hate, and not kill. Can't say the same for islam.

Robedzomb, did you really write this: "Christians start wars and Muslims don't. Muslims don't feel the need to control every other country like Christian America does."??? Are you nuts, do you not read or watch the news? Do you have no clue what radical islam is doing in Africa? Control? You mean like forcing islamic laws down the throats of African's, killing them for the horrible sin of watching soccer? Good grief, you really need to watch the national news once in a while.

Wrong information. You cant condemn Judaism, Christianity and Islam because of what Jews, Christians and Muslims do. They are two different entities. The religions preach Love and Peace, but if the followers are not following the principles accordingly, its not the fault of the religion !

the basic tenets of all major religions except Buddhism are dogmatic and the heads of those organized religions say that only their followers go to heaven and other people go to hell. pope said out side church there is no salvation. but Indian philosophy state that there are several ways to reach god. they are 1.DEVOTION 2.KNOWLEDGE 3. YOGA 4. KARMA (DEEDS) in ancient India even atheists also used to debate with the theists but no where in the history of India, the heads and hands of atheists were rolled down and chopped off. tolerance is important.the problem with organized religions is they try to convert others in to their religions by giving alms to the poor or by the sword.if you believe in god you worship but don't try to convert other people by force .at the same time atheists should also not indulge in unnecessary arguments with believers about the existence of god. atheists without any commitment to the betterment of the oppressed, depressed, marginalized sections of the society are of no use to the society.whether a person is good or bad is the point but not to what religion that person belongs to. LET A HUNDRED FLOWERS BLOOM. LET A THOUSAND SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT CONTEND.

I ask myself that question all the time.

I always wondered what an "all loving God" would think of fanaticism.

It is sad, I thought religion was supposed to promote love and spirituality, and forgiveness, but it seems more and more people use it to back their own misguided beliefs.

I wish more people would practice what they preach...especially "What would Jesus do?"

But religions, the major ones, have been corrupted by man for centuries. Look at the crusades, does killing in the name of "god" really bring you closer to his favor? Look at the abuse of power and wealth.

I am by no means a religious person, infact I am quite the opposite, but basic logic says to me, treat others the way you would like to be treated.

I mean even the Pagans and Wiccan have more of an understanding of that basic philosophy..."Harm no one!"

I totally agree with you on this one, Intolerance, Ignorance and a lack of respect for mankind...will be the downfall of our civilization if we are not careful.

Who is right and who is wrong will only be answered in the end....

and then, does it really matter?

Well I'm a Muslim and never has anyone in Islam at any point taught me to hate. Hate who? For what reason? I'm afraid you are misinformed as far as Islam is concerned. I love my fellow man where does it tell me i shouldn't. Where does it demand that i be intolerant, ignorant and disrespectful? I look in the mirror each day with a clean conscience, why exactly wouldn't i?

I think you are overgeneralizing a bit. I was raised christian and I have never had the feeling like I was supposed to look down on other religions. I think that there are probably people from all religions who "teach hate" as you say, but it is never the entire population of the religion. Don't judge everyone so much.
