You sound very enlightened & warm just for the record. But I agree, I think there is more to life than just earth. I think we ascend to light, & are judged by our works. I believe if we are good humans we will be pushed to the next step of enlightenment or evolution (whatever u want to call it) & the bad ones probably have to come back to learn what goodness truly is before being allowed into such a peace full place as heaven. I believe being attached to material things will keep u attached to this material world. And something I read in a book called "Life After Death"
"What u do today, will ripple throughout a thousand tomorrows."
Lovely & profound isn't it? The author is Deepak Chopra.

I think that there any many different plains of existance, and not just earth, heaven, and hell (and possibly purgatory). I think you're right in thinking our "soul" will end up according to how we live our life. It might not be as black and white as this, but I think say you rape someone in this lifetime, you're gonna get raped next life. Though maybe if you go to jail, get raped there, and truly feel regret, you can have a chance at a good life next time.
Only one way to find out really though.

Of some interest have been the reports from a few who returned to describe their experiences. However, they are not all alike, and I would not want to stake my eternal destiny on such a report. Rather, I look to the Bible, with the authority and inspiration of God. There, I read that it is appointed unto man once to die, and after this, the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). In order for that day not to take us by surprise, there is plenty of hope and instruction for the person who is willing to look for help in this lifetime, especially by reading the Gospel of John.

I beleive that we just stop functioning, neurones stop firing and we are no longer conscious. Nothing thereafter from a consciousness point of view. but energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another, which in the case of burial is to enrich the soil and where grass, flowers and worms will take our nurishment so that is our continued life.
In the case of cremation, all our energy is lost through heat, and our ashes will eventually become rock or soil and so the cyle begins again.
Obviously one day when the sun explodes we will become star dust again and who knows, on a distant planet somewhere life will begin again.
This to me is what I call eternal life.

The Bible is not explicitly clear on when a person will reach their final eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, after death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23).
This is where it can get confusing as to what happens after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all those in Hell being cast into the lake of fire. Revelation chapters 21-22 describe a New Heaven and New Earth. Therefore, it seems that until the final resurrection, after death a person resides in a “temporary” Heaven and Hell. A person's eternal destiny will not change, but the precise "location" of a person's eternal destiny will change. At some point after death, believers will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). At some point after death, unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.
When the Bible says a person is “sleeping” in relation to death (Luke 8:52; 1 Corinthians 15:6), it does not mean literal “sleep.” Sleeping is just a way to describe death because a dead body appears to be sleeping. The Bible tells us that the instant you die, you are taken to heaven or Hell based on whether you had received Christ as your Savior or not. For believers, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23). The concept of “soul sleep” is not a Biblical doctrine. The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). Until the resurrection, though, there is currently a temporary heaven “Paradise” (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and Hell “Hades” (Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14).
In a sense, a person’s body is “sleeping” while their soul is in Paradise or Hades. This body is then “awoken” and transformed into the eternal body a person will possess for eternity. These eternal bodies is what we possess for all of eternity, whether we are in heaven or Hell. Those who were in Paradise will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

Some are taught in church that Hell is a place of suffering where evil souls go. Heaven is where good people go.
This is not a bible teaching:
Abraham died and went to a ever-burning hell? Surely idol worshippers would not be in heaven. Yet, Abraham was with his forefathers, Scripture says.
Joshua 24:2 - "Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor; and they served other deities," Genesis 15:15. "And you shall go to your fathers".
King David was a righteous king he must of gone to heaven? no?
Acts 2:34 - For David did not ascend into the heavens.
When Lazarus died Jesus spoke to Martha that he was in Heaven? no?
John 11:11 - Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Besides Jesus there must of been some one righteous enough to go to heaven? no?
John 3:13 - No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
When Jesus kingdom arrives he promised the good will go to heaven. no?
Matthew 5:5 - Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Surely people has holy as saints will rule with Jesus in heaven? no?
Revelation 5:10 - You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."
finally, the second death (from Rev 21:8) is a location for bad people to suffer in a fiery place. no?
Rev 20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
-The Second death is a judgment not a location. Jesus is promising that those who are not wicked will be resurrected and never die again.
Verdict: Death is Hell. It's the grave where we are like in a sleep like state but have no conscience thought. Waiting to be brought back to life if we have followed Jesus teachings.

Life goes on for the survivors. Sometimes we are remembered, most often we are forgotten.
This is one of the reasons why it's important to try to enjoy life as much as possible. When it's over, it's over ...
