This is quite a hard question to answer, putting in to the fact that people get new software for their computers everyday, adding another million ones and zeros into their computer. Also, it depends on how much space the computer has. I will do a rough calculation on and 100Gigs:

Here is my rough calculation (I'm not sure if it is right) : 858993459200

If you're talking about the total number of bits that Windows XP writes during installation, you'd have to see roughly how much hard-drive space was taken after a fresh installation and apply the following:

Each 1 or 0 is known as a 'bit'.
1 byte is 8 bits.
1 Kilobyte is 1024 bytes or 8,192 bits.
1 Megabyte is 1024 Kilobytes or 8,388,608 bits.
1 Gigabyte is 1,024 Megabytes or 8,589,934,592 bits.

If you're talking about the maximum number of bits a computer running Windows XP can store, the answer depends on the amount of storage the machine has, and thus could theoretically be as large as one can afford. Not to mention external storage such as burned DVDs and CDs, flash drives, network drives, etc.

You see this is impossible to count the no. of 1s and 0s in winxp. The problem is that , as 1s and 0s are the commands to the pc .it can always vary. Therefore, it`s impossible to actually know the no. of 1s and 2s (it`s very ill-logical)

Hope you understand me
