The answer is yes... if he's taking controlled narcotics without a prescription you have given yourself the answer.

1. Doing something illegal
2. Hiding it from alleged loved ones
3. Denying there is a problem

Get away from this man or insist on a treatment program.

One of the tell tell signs that someone is addicted is that they are hiding the product from someone they are close to. Simular to what an alcoholic does. They have their bottles hidden so that no one will know they are drinking and then they can't get fussed at.

I'm guess your boyfriend is addicted. Personally, I wouldn't put up with the lying or the addiction from him. And I'm guessing you're now come in second on the important slot, so giving him the ultimatium of "it's it or me" probably wouldn't work to your advantage.. My late husband, whom was alcoholic, used to also steal money from my purse. Keep a close eye on this guy.

Addictions will also lead to the person stealing money just to get what they think they need.

They will lie about it also.

Ultram is reported by the drug company not to be addicting but I personally know people who are abusing it right now. They comment that it makes them feel relaxed and relieves depression. One of my closest friends who has never been addicted to anything is going through a rough time in her life. She admitted to me of inventing a story of cluster headaches 24 hours a day in order to get a lot of Ultram from her doctor. She has even asked me to invent a story to get some from my doctor and she would pay me for them. I won't do that and I have already lectured her. I would look for instances such as this in his life. Does he arrange his activities around how many pills he has left? Does he make plans according to when he will receive another script? Tell tale signs such as this are signs of addiction. While Ultram is NOT as addictive as a narcotic pain reliever such as Hydrocodone (Vicodin & Lortab) it is ADDICTIVE. Another big time sign of addiction is "doctor phishing". This is were he may have several doctors perscribing to him. This is one of the most common signs and it is against the law. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

How many does he go through? How many is he prescribed? If he orders before his prescription is supposed to run out, then I would say he has a problem. It will be hard but you must confront him about this.I myself was hooked on that and vicodon and it is not pretty. The further it gets ,the worst it gets, and the harder it gets.If he says "I can quit anytime" say OK DO IT NOW.Stick by it if you love him,he will thank you.I did!Good luck.PS in case you didn't know the generic name of this drug is tramadol.

He's addicted. If he's ordering them offline, which is ILLEGAL, and hiding them, then he's addicted.
