was brought up with the knowledge that the place where Jesus was supposedly born was a place of pilgrimage for either the believer or the none believer a like could go and find solace for what ever reason.
My question is; Who has given the people who live there now the right destroy this place, a place that belongs to everyone and not just the Jews? What is the great big ugly barrier doing there?

Hi.
Good question.
Having visited Bethlehem myself, I found it a moving and spiritually uplifting place. However, since the event it depicts happened, biblically, over two thousand years ago,the point is what it represents- not what it is. Many sites of significance to the Jewish populace/Christian faith have been destroyed over the centuries, but faith remains solid and supreme. Nobody has a right to destroy them, and will face judgement in their own time.
The 'barrier' is a man made physical entity. Don't worry about it.
The Berlin wall came down eventually.
Happy Christmas,

You will now be called "anti-semitic" ...lol
maybe Jerusalem should be a freezone governed by the international community
The one who gave the jews that right was the west ... Britain was "occupying palastine", then they simply gave it to the jews who came from all over the world and kicked the people who live there out and called that land home ... and until now the original people of that land are under oppression from the Israeli military.
And the whole world is watching, and condemning the Palestinians too ,

Who's destroying the place?
I'm not religious but have been to Bethlehem as part of a short trip and it seems to be well looked after.
Jesus is a supposed to be a Prophet in Islam as well. Though I only saw Jesus as a Profit to the local Palestinians and I don't blame them - Why not; people near the Eiffel Tower sell trinkets.
Dibbers: I was just saying that it seemed looked after; after all its an asset to the local Palestinian community. By the way Bethlehem is in Palastinian hands not Jews.
Merry Christmas.....

Human nature puts the barrier there. Things that are diffrent have always been seen as inferior of bad.
Give it time, some faiths already have broken the barrier, we wait for christianity and islam to do the same,

Survival! Because people who think that anyone should be able to go there want to destroy the people who are there.
