I really needed to go to doctor and my mother had switched our joint appointment to a time that I couldn't make (couldn't get out of work.) My boyfriend was worried so he called the doctor to see if they could get me another appt. The receptionist asked if he was my father and he said "yes." The receptionist said she would call back, but she called my actual father instead. My father is furious and won't speak to me (even though it is Christmas.) I know my boyfriend was wrong to lie, but he said he would do anything to get me to the dr. Do I take his side or my father's?

I swear your family is so F'ed up! Actually they are quite American. Your father's inaction to do anything makes him guilty for not helping when he has the power to help-he has the insurance, he has the automatic power of attorney to make and change decisions for your mother. Your boyfriend in trying to protect you, did actually lie. I also believe there is a legal word that says a person can commit a crime if the crime is to save someone's life. Like you can murder someone who is about to murder your child or you can speed to get someone to the hospital. But I believe that because your father knew and did nothing "wrong" and your boyfriend did something "wrong" its so easy to forget and rationalize who's to blame because admitting your a jerk is harder than saying, well that guy over there is a jerk more!

Well let's see: your boyfriend lied to the docor's office and actually lied to your father; as well as about him, as well. I don't think he was very wise to do either one. If you had told your parents perhaps they could have helped you.
He might love you but he has no trouble lying to people. I would think that bears watching.
I wonder why you did not take care of the appointment.

How old are you? just wondering if you are an adult or a child. why didn't u call you dr office ? i wouldv'e just said that b/f was just trying to a new dr appt. i would also tell your dad that he was only trying to get you a new appt. sheeezz sounds like your dad is acting alitttle childish.. then again if you are a child and your boyfriend did that i can see why he would be upset

Your dad has a right to be mad, but your boyfriend was only trying to help. Its never a good idea to lie. Your dad should just let it go and your boyfriend should apologize immediately to your dad and all will be well. And you..........go to the doctor.

yeah u shouldnt have let ur bf do that. Ur dad probably feels that he cant trust you.Even if you had something really important and needed to go to the doctors, you should of had ur parents do it.Whats worst, ur boyfriend doing it and you get caught while he gets off scott free, or you asking your parents and them trusting you???
