First, before removing IE7, do you have any of those "helpful" toolbars installed on your browser? If so, then remove those.
Also, IE7 has an option to run with no add-ons. You can get this by going to your Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools. Try running that to see if it gives you the same problems.
Only run one anti-virus program at a time.

No, using two antiviruses or firewalls at a time is unsafe for your computer(this is not true in case of anti-spywares). I am 99% sure that it is no security issue. About 60% of the people who have downloaded IE 7 are experiencing such weird things. So, the best solution would be to uninstall it from Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. By this, IE will downgraded automatically to your previous version, i.e., IE 6. You can make IE 6 a bit IE 7-like, by using the Yahoo toolbar. It enables tabbed browsing in IE 6!

IE7 ought to throw basically an preliminary overhead once you run a clean window of it, you ought to be careful with the entire form of tabs you open, IE7 is somewhat swifter than IE6 the secret's how lots memory you're utilising or which websites you're surfing, websites with vast photos and movies consistently imposed a undertaking !, FireFox must be an option so which you would be able to maintain around for velocity despite if it would soak up somewhat greater memory.

I concur with the answer to remove IE7 and return to IE6. I had the same problem with IE7. One would think that MSFT would fully test such a important application before release. I also use Fire Fox and have been happy with that application.

Multitudes of people who downloaded IE7 have had problems...tho yours sound even worse. I am no expert, but what I and many others did was UNINSTALL the IE 7 and use IE6...it will still be there. Even Yahoo (which PUSHES IE7) has acknowledged that IE7 has serious problems.

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

Personally I'd get rid of IE7 (nothing but trouble, you'll see the number of queries about it on here) and use Firefox.
DON'T run more than one anti-virus, they'll fight each other.
Again, personally, I'd dump Norton and use either AVG or Avast!, both free to download, frequently updated and effcient, as well as being less cumbersome by far.

I must be one of the few who have not had any problems with IE7 as it was downloaded with Microsoft updates, everything is fine and works quite well.
