It's a blessing to have people that you love so much that you feel grateful to be able to give a gift to them. It is also a blessing to have someone else feel that way about you. That is why you feel so great giving a very special gift, and getting one.

To me, "Merry Christmas" means more than "Happy Holidays". But that's because I feel that "Merry Christmas" is more specific to my beliefs and "happy holidays" is just p.c.

So...Merry Christmas to you!

First off, there is a difference between Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Christmas is a religious holiday celebrating the birth of Christ, whereas happy holidays could be anything.

It feels a lot better to give than receive, so it is more of a blessing.

Yes I think in giving you also get back.. so it's a double good feeling. Merry Christmas is celebrating Jesus's birthday and it makes me happy to say that. Happy Holidays is for people who don't believe that or don't want to offend people who don't believe that.

This is going to sound phony and self-serving, but I honestly do. My wife gets angry with me when she asks what I want for Christmas and I tell her not to get me anything. I just like giving her presents. Christmas is for the children, of course, and I like giving presents.

I guess I learned this lesson many years ago. Cabbage Patch dolls were all the rage, but they were impossible to find. A (female) cousin wanted one, but my aunt more or less told her that she could not find one. I do not remember exactly how, but someone knew someone who knew someone and my aunt found a doll. I wish all of you could have seen my cousin's face when she opened the present. That is what giving is all about.

Happy Holidays is much too PC for my tastes. That said, I agree that we should not purposely slight any religion.
