To be a real gentleman the male should pay at the first date, I am not going towards being sexist, but just that the male should pay for 100%
Sometimes the lady likes to go halves, or even pay, but if nothing was decided the guy should pay, guys that don't are just cheap and pathetic

If its a test date to see if they are both feeling the same way about eachother they should go dutch and pay their own way. If there boyfriend and girlfriend the man should by the movie but the woman should buy the popcorn.

I would expect to pay for the admission, snacks and anything else when we were out.
now. I would pay the admission and hope she would offer to pay for the snacks, just to be nice. I may still pay for it but it would be nice if she offered.
