I was diagnosed with precancerous cells 15 years ago. I altered my diet to reduce my weight a little and to ensure I was eating foods that would not cause a problem and which, hopefully was more beneficial.

I started with tests every three months which I then got reduced to every year. But a few years ago the doctor pointed out that from onset to death of the two types of cancer I could get could be less than three months, so I do not bother having a test at all now.

My condition does take a little bit of living with and I do have to make adjustments from time to time but I do live a full life and walk 12-20 kilometres in the mountains every week.

The only way to deal with this problem is to learn to accept it and live with it and get on with your life.

Hi,

You have to try to live your life in the "now" because if you worry about "IT" then you are consumerd to the point of pralasys and depression.

You have to live every day as if bad stuff is going to happen and make sure you don't have any "shoulda, coulda, woulda's" in your life.

Be kind to everyone and try to find peace and love in your life because that is what is important; not the stuff, not the things, but the people and feelings.

Great question and btw - the cancer you are talking about is Myeloma. Will kill you at "some point" but can stay dormate for months at a time then lash out.

Good luck,

I am living with potentially fatal cancer. Every cancer survivor is.

Since my Breast Cancer (6 year survivor, diagnosed at 42 and considered too young to have it), I've tried to live each day as a gift.

The reality is the medical bills have driven me to consider bankruptcy which I can NOT file because it will affect my new (3.5 years) Husband's credit.

Cancer not only affects the patient but the family, friends, co-workers and others around you.

My mother got tested after I was diagnosed because she was scared she gave it to me!

I try not to think about the fact that the odds are in my favor to die from Cancer eventually.

What do you mean, "may never affect you"? Cancer affects you. The medications you take to fight it affect you. The treatments you take to fight it affect you.

If you are curious how people who know they may die any moment from cancer live their lives, visit your local hospice.

I'm a nurse. I would eat right and exercise. Also I would start using vitamins. I would be as healthy as I could be to prolong my health. Good Luck and I wish you all the best.

I would re-evaluate my priorities in life - family, friends, work, etc. Try to make more of those magical moments happen.
