how do cats get to be the way they are?

if you get a cat when it is a kitten, does it grow up to be the way it is because of how you raise it and treat it or is that just the way the cat is?

Generally think of it this way; cats are like children. They respond as they are treated. I've been told my Stimpy is an ANGEL. If only they knew what happens when they leave. At least she know HOW to behave. She knows how much she can push it after 13 1/2 yrs. Merry Christmas

if you've known it since it was a kitten thenits the way you treat it and the way you raise it if you raise it as a house cat it will be very healthy.

Partially, yes. I have three kitties that I've had since they were born. They are very nice and cuddly, just the way I like it, but also, they have all different personalities. But, the difference is, they know you (only you) and trust you totally. That's why they can be so sweet. My oldest was adopted at the age of 4, he's nice, too, but it's a different relationship. He already had his personality and habits developped before I got him.

That's a good question. I think it is the way you raise them. I showed all of my cats a lot of affection and still do, so they are very affectionate creatures. But some of them are bad and tear up my furniture and poop where they shouldn't. I surely didn't teach them that! LOL!

Cats are who they are by nature. What we can influence is their temperament.

both ways have an effect on your cat but if it is a wild cat then most likely it will still have the wild in it's behavior
