How big is your family?
If you need to seat more than 4 you have to get a minivan or an SUV.
If you need room for 3-4 you could get something like a Toyota Avalon.

Personally, I love the Chrysler Pacifica. I hope to buy one soon myself. They have plenty of room, but aren't anywhere near being a minivan!!

I bought a Dodge Caravan...and it was the biggest lemon to roll on the face of the earth. I am forever shunning them now.
We bought a Mercury Grand Marquis and love it. Can seat 5 comfortably, 6 in a pinch. The trunk is big enough to carry all our luggage...even a large bale of hay. It has about 140,000 miles on it, and the only problem we had was a ignition coil fail, and that was an easy fix. The kids are always happy to ride in it...very comfortable.

I would have to say the Ford Freestyle or Chrysler Pacifica for something smaller.
Otherwise, you cant beat a Ford Econoline, or Chevy Express for a family vehicle.

A Ford Five Hundred that's all-wheel drive is about perfect... unless you have a very large family, then I would go with some kind of station wagon or van.

an estate wagon will do the job...brands like peaugeot, volvo or mercedes have awsome wagons...or how about 7-seater SUVs'..they are not minivans..range rover? ssangyong?

I would go with a Chevy HHR, my dad just bought one and he loves the thing. spacious room, nice size trunk, lots of options, and has great gas mileage. fits good amount of people ive got four bros
