Being homelessness is a very scary and dangerous thing! It would make sense to have a mobile in order to give yourself a bit of security. Also, who are we to judge someone elses priorities when it comes to little comforts!
So, the fact you bought him a pastie shows you are generous of spirit and the fact you gave it to someone with a dog shows that you think its ok for a homeless guy to gain comfort from a dog that he also has to provide for but not a mobile phone!
I think there is a lesson there for you in your personal self awareness!
I'm not judging you by the way, surprised you never just ate them both, but then, they weren't made of chocolate, were they? x x x

Actually a good decision. Some people dress down. Or the first one had stolen the phone.
I would rather feed both a man and a dog anyway! In any case, I prolly would not have given the pie to someone with a phone, if I had bought it to share with a person who might be hungry.

You are not mean my dear. You were right to give it to someone else, instead of keeping it.
There is a homeless guy near my apartment that sits in the same spot every night on his laptop. Not kidding. It's the weirdest thing. I have never been able to figure it out

No, you found a more deserving homeless person food. Good on you. It's bad enough that in this day and age we still have homeless people, but how sick that some people pretend to be homeless for a freebe

I think you did the right thing. I know it sounds bad but I know for a fact that some beggers are not homeless and they change in to scabby clothes to pretend to be homeless, I've saw them! How could he possibly afford the credit for a mobile? Unless he stole it!

That's not mean at all, if they have a mobile and were using it they obviously aren't in need of life's basics. I know lots of people who can't afford phone. I think you shouldn't give handouts in the street anyway, if you feel encouraged to donate, I think it's better to give to a charity. Your not a bad person, but why do you need people on here to tell you that?

No you're not mean.If you look closely at some of these `supposedly` homeless people, you will see that they work as a team.
You did the right thing i guess,by giving the food to another homeless person, the one who actually looked as though he needed it.

No you are not if he can waste money on sending texts then he should get a job. A lot of them make more money begging than working. I give them nothing but give to Shelter where I know the money will be put to good use.

Perhaps he wasn't homeless, just having a rest against a wall. I did that once and I had thirty pence thrown at me.
