It's cold where I'm at. Could the weather be a factor to my skin being dry??? Do I need to apply more lotion??? Should I actually use an oil based moisturizer??? Please help!!

Don't put more of the Proactiv lotion on your face in the cold weather. It's got salytic acid in it and slightly dries out your face (it treats acne). Use a non-proactiv mositurizing lotion on the dry areas.

There are a lot of moisturizers out there... Cold weather does aid in causing dry skin. Your skin can be oily and dry at the same time! This is what's referred to as combination skin. You have to treat each seperately. Proactiv is fixing the oily part I would assume... use a good moisturizer for the dry part. I read really good reviews on Oil of Olay (i forget which) on consumer reports. They did some bit study. I use either MD Forte or Ahava... ahava.com or skinwest I guess to find it. Make sure your getting stuff for oily skin.

You may want to try a different cleanser. I use MD Forte Cleanser III I think. It has Glycolic acid. You would start with a I or II. It works really well for me. If I don't use it I have acne issues . Moisturizers, even oil free, can cause your face to look a little shiny or greasy. You can prevent this by using a little powder on your face. It sounds kind of girly (you may be a girl in which case it sounds normal) but it really helps. It's not make up it's just powder. It also helps absorb extra oil on your face.

Good luck!

Even though acne medications vary slightly in the ingredients used the common factor and side effects are the same. Here's what's in Proactiv and the side effects of the ingredients:

Benzoyl Peroxide:
— Common Formulations: 2.5%, 5%, 10%
— Potential Side Effects: Drying of skin, bleaching of fabric

Glycolic Acid:
— Common Formulations: 4-6%, 10%, 20%
— Potential Side Effects: Drying of skin and skin irritation

The one common denominator in both ingredients is "Drying" of the skin.
Notice what the Benzoyl Peroxide can do, "Bleaching" of fabric

This is more than likely the cause of your dry skin. Try Clinique and finish with the Clinique moisturizer. I've found that Clinique is better than Proactiv.

No oil based..that will cause a break out. Try drinking more water and just a little bit more of the lotion

Don't use oil-based moisturizer. It would ruin everything you've done. It's normal for your skin to be dried out the first month or so. Same thing happened to me. It usually takes a while for your skin to "get used" to the solutions. Give it some time. =)

Mine is in basic terms too. do in basic terms no longer use something that has oil in it. Wash it with gel that get rid of extra oil consistent with risk 2-three times an afternoon. Exfoliate your dermis a million-2 a week and use beginning that's consistent with water.

The heat in your house along with hot showers is probably drying your skin out. How about a humidifier?

When your on you third step, and you getting ready to use the lotion only put it on the "problem spots"
My germatologis told me that, becuase my face was getting dry. And when your face gets really dry your face cant clear up.

If you are being subjected to constant weathering then your toughened skin will not absorb the lotion initially. Eventually your skin will soften but it will be more weather sensitive.
