well done for taking the first step...which is talking to your mother but you need to now go to your GP and he/she should refer you to a counsellor or psychiatrist...they are good people and can give you some advice and ideas on what and how to deal with your depression...you may even be perscribed some tablets....if you are suffering with depression then be ready to take each day as it comes because it is not a two minute fix job...it can take weeks...months or even years...just remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and stay poisitive :)

Teens get depressed and it is common. No reason to freak out.
But you must control it and not let it get out of hand.
Your hormones fluctuate tremendously from 12 to 19. It can affect the way you think, how you feel, your mood, your body, your emotions, and your life. It really has nothing to do with what is going on around you and more to do with your changing body.
Here is some things you can do:
Take St. Johns Wort (found in any store) as directed.
Go to a health food store or Herbalist and tell them you need something for mild depression, There are many good herb formulas out there.
Eat a well balanced diet that will help regulate your hormones.
You need lots of red meat, 100% whole wheat bread, veggies, and fruit.
Take Vitamin supplements: multi-vitamin then extra C and all the B vitamins. You can take large quantaties of C and B's as they are water soluable and will flush out what you dont need. I suggest double up what it on the label for two weeks then go to the directions. Your body is depleated for depression to be present. Especially, the B vitamins.
Bulk up on lots of fiber. It will flush impurities from your system and make sure you stay regular. If your bowel is not cleaned out your body absorbs the bad stuff (pesticides, chemicals etc)
You need at least 8-9 hours sleep per night. Any less for a growing teen is hard on your system and brain. Exhaustion is common in teens and it causes depression.
Drink lots of water. Water flushes your system too. Too much sugar and caffeine from sodas cause anxiety and stress. Your body is trying to get rid of it and water does the trick.
Exercise also elevates mood. You can swim, bike, run, jump rope, yoga, floor exercises, use videos at lease 3 times a week.
Just to get your heart rate up. Try to fit in a little time and do something. No time, then try jumping rope (you can buy one cheap) 10 minutes 3xs per day.
Please try to follow these examples it will change you within a week. You will feel better and have more energy and a better outlook on life. These really work. Try them before you go to a doctor that will only put you on medication you may not need.
Good Luck

Do some relaxation and meditation. It will help center your mind so you can deal with stress and anxiety better. If you do not want (or are unable to) sit and be still for that, you can try tai chi, chi gong, or yoga. Tai chi and chi gong are actually forms of martial arts, but the basics are for good health....and that's overall health - including mental! Give it a chance - just 20 minutes a day will bring great results. It needs to be done calmly, while breathing deeply, slowly. Join a class, find a video, or check out a library book to learn how to do it. An instuctor will ensure you do it right, but if you can't get one, a video will at least show you how it's done.
St. John's Wort is a mood-elevating herd, so you might want to check that out too.

Change the way you think..dont think of the stupid things..think of the things you have done right.Find a trusted friend and tell them what you are thinking about yourself or go to a free mental health clinic and talk to a psycologist if you feel that you need one..personally I think the friend is better..and haven't you ever heard the term.."its always darkest before the dawn" That means that it will be ok..things may seem bleak now but they have a way of turning face up to be better.. dont sweat it you will be fine..

Go to a mental health doctor. Don't be afraid everyone needs some help now and then and sometimes it is better to have an outsiders opinion. He may be able to prescribe something for you to help you get through your delima.
