Because they were written by man...not "a God" Do you have any idea how many Gods there have been throughout history? Probably not. But if you study beyond what you have been taught in church...You probably wouldn't believe.

Because there are so many faiths, so many Gods and so many wonderful people that have different ways of showing their faith. Why do you people feel that all people of this world should shun their own faiths because you feel that you have the only God that is capable of saving a persons soul. Just because your God is the right choice for your family and tradition, does not mean that it is the right choice for someone that has been raised to believe in another belief system...your not the chosen ones, you just have the faith that you are. Just as other people "Think" that they are. If it helps you to feel good about yourself and it helps you sleep at night, than by all means believe that you have found all the answers...but remember that other people have their own answers to the questions and the mysterys of this world.

Because the words of god are really the words of men long dead and gone, and while some of those words are universal truths found in most religons, all the rest is based on historical circumstance that when applied to todays day and age, well, you would have to be pretty thick in the head to swallow so much ignorance. If you want to base your belief structure on the ideals and principles of long dead hebrews go nuts, just don't question why the rest of us aren't.

Seems like there are a load of people all claiming to speak for God and they do not all necessarily agree with each other. Finding gold among the gravel in religious books can be a difficult task. It is hard and many are not willing to put in the required effort.

Because many realise that god is just a central character of middle eastern tales and legends. These interesting works of fiction were written by men for the enjoyment of their readers.

Sorry I cannot or will not believe in something that has no proof other than a flawed book that is NOT the word of the being. No one can give sufficient proof that the being is real. Until they do I won't believe. There are people giving away big bucks for proof when they get a 'winner' then I will rethink things.

Why is it that Christians do not follow the teachings of Christ?
Why are there sick and poor and suffering and unhappy and dying around us, and people instead worry about how many bible quotes they use, or how often they can quote scripture, or how many times they've gone to church?
Perhaps people do not believe, not because of the message but because of the messenger.

People do believe is Gods words.
BUT, we do not know which ones are Gods words, or mans.

Because they are trapped in the hand of the enemy and are blinded because of the darkness they live in.
