Because Jesus or the Archangel Micheal who he really is came here to die for our us. He offered his human life form and suffered physical pain which angels dont have for us as the greatest sacrifice to God because of his love for us so that God could have mercy and forgive our forefathers original sin and betrayall which we are tainted with We cannot think like God so dont ask why cant he just forgive its not that simple i would have to go into a long philosophical discution to make you actually have a small idea of who God is and he is not human a general idea of who He is is the Eternal cosmic power that governs, protects creates,maintains the laws and forces that make the universe and through love created life .

He said "before Abraham was, I AM." In this way He was equating Himself to God (i.e. a member of the Trinity which together make up the One True God.)
The I AM dates back to the burning bush story with Moses: "Who shall I tell them sent me?"
God said, "Tell them I AM sent you."

Isa(PBUH*) never died. ALLAH made another man in Isa's(PBUH*) image and had that person die. I assume it was to make the Jews happy that they killed another prophet. But no ALLAH would never let a prophet die.
