My puppy wont go to the bathroom outside, all he wants to do is play, and then he goes in my house, ill have him outside for half an hour and then bring him in and he pees on my floor. Whats up with that, how do i get him to go outside and not inside. All he wants to do is play if im out with him, or he sits and looks at the door and barks the whole time.

Take him out every hour, then he'll have no chice but to go outside sometime. Then praise him alot when he does and make sure you have a treat to give him outside. When he goes inside, take the mess outside and show him. Use a command such as "go pee", or whatever you like, and ONLY say this when you are outside. Keep him on a leash so he ca't play and continue repeating go pee, he'll get the idea quickly. When he goes inside make sure you make him aware how unhappy you are about it.

He's just being a puppy. Don't worry, this is normal! Pups are alot like us. They have to "GO" after they eat or drink, after they first wake up from every nap and after a hard playtime. These are all great opertunities for you to take him RUNNING out the door to "GO". Keep repeating to him.. potty outside..and then when he does (and he will) be very animated with your praise to him. Pretty soon he'll want to go outside just to get that praise from you! When he goes inside, please don't hit him or rub his nose in it. Just show it to him and in a deep, firm voice tell him that was bad. If it's solid, pick it up & take it outside. Show it to him out there and say good boy! He'll learn. Be patient. Dogs are the only creatures on earth that actually want to make us happy. No kidding. He just needs to know what makes you happy.

Take him outside again right after you bring him in, preferably before he pees on your floor. Watch his body language carefully...you should be able to tell when he's about to urinate.

Please don't hit or yell at your puppy. He will only associate it with "I guess I shouldn't do it IN FRONT of you" and will continue to soil behind your back.

Taking him out every 2 hours (puppies need to go very often) should also help.

Remember. He's only a puppy so he still needs time to adapt to the outdoors and find a comfortable place to go. This is normal for puppies that are about 2-3 months old. Also, check if he does anything to show you he needs to go, like sniffing around in circles with his tail up or something.

hmm... could be a number of reasons I guess. I had a dog that refused to pee on the grass. We had gravel under the stairs of deck, he would only pee there.

The dogs we have now would pee all over the place. We wanted them to always go in the same general area. My parents found this stick thing at Pet Smart. You stick it in the ground where you want them to go. It has a smell on it that attracts them to it and they will start peeing there.

It's worth a try.

what u need to do is keep him out there until he does go potty. always use a phrase like go outside or go potty whatever u choose.

If u have to then go outside with him. but do not let him until he goes. after a while he will get that if he wants to go inside he has to do his buisness first

Good luck!!!!!
