I found my Grandfathers Honorable discharge papers and i was wondering what he did in the war

A storekeeper deals with supplies. He handles ordering, distribution, and inventory of what the command has. A 2nd class is an E-5, so he was almost in the perfect spot in my opinion. He wasn't the small fry who did all the dirty work, but he wasn't the boss either who had to deal with everything.

A storekeeper is a supply or logistics sailor. If you need it, they are suppose to be able to get it.

While on watch, he would be in charge of the ship's supplies. Off watch, he was responsible for the general upkeep of the ship and anything else needed for him. His battlestation could be any number of things, from manning a gun to preparing to fight fires or flooding.

An SK2 is the supply grunt- when the engineers or the electronics people need parts, and the cooks need food, the SK's order the "beans, bolts, bombs and bullets."
