Why is it so Hard for some of us to give up the traditions of man? The Bible says the traditions of man will damn us. Jesus himself said not to follow after the traditions of man. so why do most of us ignore this?

It should be easy especially if it is not written in God's Word.

Deception is embarrassing and hard to admit, but once you learn the truth of God's Word, your over it.

I guess the real difficulty is those who are still deceived by traditions, doctrines, rituals, and fallacies of men.

First we have to be able to see what is meant by the phrase "traditions of man". Then each individual has to stop looking at what everyone else is apparently doing and start looking at his or her own state of being. After recognizing how we bring suffering upon ourselves then we will give up the "traditions of man". Most people are more concerned with impressing their neighbor or their fellow members of their congregation to even try to consider their own misunderstanding. As a child of God do you even think you know what the "traditions of man" as referred to in the Bible was meant to signify?

There are some traditions which lead us AWAY FROM God and others that lead us TO God The traditions of the Catholic Church are part of our worship of God. Tradition helps people pass down how they worship and praise God from generation to generation. We feel a kinship with those who lived before us when we follow their traditions.

Also, Jesus was criticizing those people who thought they were righteous for following tradition while there was no love of God or neighbor in their heart.

A person should never let the following of a tradition get in the way of them loving God or their neighbor.

If you are referring to Mark 7:5-23 (you gave no passage, so I will have to assume), then you are mis-quoting scripture.

Jesus said that it was wrong to use the traditions of men as loopholes for the commandments of God. Nowhere doe the Bible say that all traditions are always wrong.

With all due respect, please read the Bible before you go around spreading false doctrine.

Christmas and Christmas trees are NOT sinful, if that is what you are implying, even though it came from Roman Catholicism (Romans 14:1-13). Give me the thumbs down if you want, you cannot serve God by spread lies and half-truths -- it is impossible to serve God by sinning (1 John 1:5-7).

The catholics also pray to people other than God! I doubt God likes that either. It is hard to give up the traditions because we are human and we want to do these things that are fun and that we have fond memories of! I think God will let it slide...I do not think he is going to judge me on how many Christmas presents I gave or recieved!

I dont know that "ignore" is the word for it. I think that we are all sinners, and God knows that. Life is tough. It was meant to be easy and carefree, but it's not. Sometimes, for me personally, I get wrapped up in all that's going on in my life, and I make God a "bookshelf" God (take him down when I need Him, and put Him back up when I dont). It's just difficult to ignore the temptations of the world that we live in today because you can't go anywhere without there being a "soft porn" billboard, etc. And that's why it is so important to pray to God that He will give us "not a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."

People are afraid to change. If they were taught wrong and brought up in traditions of men, they do not want to find out what is right nor admit that some of the traditions of men contradict God's Word.

The hardest thing for a human to accept is that he is wrong.

Can you name a few of the traditions of man you're speaking of? I need more info-is it traditions like holidays, or oral traditions of the catholic church? In the 1 corinthians, paul stated that we need to keep oral staments as well as written statements(that's where oral traditions come from) It is true that us catholics started many of the holidays, however as the church Jesus gave st peter full authority over His church and told him that He will give him the keys to heaven and whatever he allowed on earth will be allowed in heaven and whatever he bound on earth will be bound in heaven-that's where the pope gets the full authority over the church.

Because the pull of sin is so great. The devils time is running out,so he's stepping up his attack on believers, especially new converts.Attacks on traditional values, and attacks on Christians in this forum is an example. The devil is so slick and mischievous,he can screw up the life of anybody before they even have a chance to defend against it.

Well given that for most of history, the Traditions of religion have been to oppress your fellow man and kill anybody who disagrees with your interpretation of the bible, the traditions of man don't seem so bad to me...
