NO do not. Visit a local dental college in the US. Mexico does not follow US standards of health regulations. They will do a bad job and probably cause you more pain and more work. Check out all the local colleges in your area and if the school has a dental program then they probably have a public dental clinic. Dental schools (people becoming dentists) charge only the cost of supplies which is much less than a private dental office. My grandmother had her work done at a dental school and it cost her 500 dollars but if she had gone to a private dentist she was told it would cost more than 5,000 dollars.
I get my teeth cleaned every six months at a local dental hygiene clinic in a community college. The students do a great and through job, more through than when I visit a private dental office, and it only cost me 20 bucks! At a private office it has cost me 108.00 before, and for less treatment and work!

I have heard the horror stories of Mexican dental work.
Things like:
Pain
Lack of Sterile gear
Filling the wrong tooth
Using out of date procedures
Causing more problems than when you went in
Infections that show later
Double billing for more money
Or bumping the price up after the work is done, you cant get out without paying their fees and you can go to jail. They quote you $300 and then when done they say it was more work than anticipated and now you owe $600. Try turning them down.
Any medications are outdated
Novacaine that did not work therefore patient felt pain
It is a real crap shoot. In some areas and big cities they have better doctors but it is hard to find the right one. If you ask around down there it is only who they know that they tell you about (a relative or friend). You never get the true story. And the Mexicans love Americans when it comes to crossing the border for Health services or medications.
Good Luck

I had work done by a mexican dentist and it was better than the work i had before in the US and way cheaper of course. I think it's a matter of looking for different dentists because im sure there are pretty bad dentists in Mexico as there are in the US.
I checked everything, specially the sterilization standards and he followed every guideline. He is member of the American Dental Association and he was very professional and caring. I have been aferaid of dentists all my life and i was very pleased with his service.
His name is Dr Brown (Yes he is american but he lives in mexico) this is his website.

I heard nothing bad about dental work done in Mexico, but then I only know one person that has done it, and i haven't seen him since the procedure. I need an implant and some crowns, and can't find anyone that will take payments. He went to Nogales, Mx. It's true they are laid back there, but also very nice, that has been my experience. i travel alone there, too. someone always rescues me. The police are the best.

You might have perfectly good work done in Mexico...or you might not. The oversight of things like quality assurance and sterilization is not as strict as it is in the USA or Europe.
I've personally seen good and terrible come into our office from patients who have gone to India and Mexico for dental work.
The problem is this: what if something goes wrong and it needs to be redone? Are you going to fly to Mexico (or India) several times until it's right? Would you expect your regular dentist to fix someone else's mistake?

the cost distinction is "wonderful" for a reason. Mexico is a criminal offense-ridden, 0.33 international united states of america that should be blown off the map. Mexico represents a a procedures higher secuurity chance to the U. S. than Iraq or Afghanistan ever did of their wildest desires. The northern provinces are uncontrolled of the crucial Mexican authorities and are run through drug cartels, and gangland form killings are popular. in case you opt for to expose traitor and run to Mexico, perchance you should basically stay there.

It's a crap-shoot. Generally speaking, the level of medical safety and hygiene is much lower in Mexico, but that doesn't automatically mean that every dentist or oral surgeon in Mexico is a dangerous hack. Personally, I wouldn't do it without doing a lot of research -- find a dentist who has a good reputation, check his background, his education and training, his office (for safety, cleanliness, professionalism of staff, etc.) and things like that.

Dan- I have been for minor & major big time work twice.. Major work here in Ca. 2-years ago, was going to be $3000. bucks. Went to the border 2 yrs. ago with good referrals. & pd. $1,400. bucks and that was with a top of the line 2-zircronium crowns. Good dentists in par with U.S. standards, only reason is cheaper because their over costs are way less.

Depending on how far you are away from mexico. if you are close, most of them come to the states for training then go back home to work. Try to see if you can get some reccomendations if you want to do it.
