I should have added details. We have emailed quite a few months. I went there on business a while back and we spent the day together. He is very nice and we both want to try to get to know each other. Does it work?

talk to each other get to know each other ---- 4 hours is not far really ---- then if you want to meet do so in a public place --- yes maybe about half way but somewhere nice

This may sound harsh, but don't bother. As the realationship progresses the distance gets harder and harder until you realized you've wasted all that time on someone you could have invested in locally.

Why would you do that? People. What is happening to you? We want instant gratification. We learn not to like ourselves. We demean meaningful relationships and shun and pervert intimacy. I need to get out of the city!

4 hrs is not far i would start by getting in the car and turning on the ignition

4 hours driving? thats not great but its not too bad either.
just let it take its natural progression. email then phone then talk in person and it should come naturally.
