There are 2 kinds of absinthe, that made with the hallucinogenic wormwood which is illegal, and that made without which can be imported for around 40$, the illegal stuff is closer to 210$ a bottle from many sources. Do a simple web search.

BAH. Absinthe is not illegal in the United States. It hasn't been for years. Too many kiddies watching movies like Eurotrip and thinking that absinthe is both illegal and hallucinogenic. Today, absinthe is niether.
The value of a bottle really depends on the maker of that particular brand. As has been said, I'd check with local laws to make sure you can ship alcohol first. The best thing going for you on a resale is going to be the hype... all those people who think it's illegal will give them hallucinations. That hype, if primed properly on ebay, could make a killing.
Now, before I get flamed by a bunch of kids saying things like "a friend of a friend of mine drank absinthe and had hallucinations blah blah blah." The word of the day is "placebo." I've lived in germany. I've drank the stuff. No Hallucinations. The reason that myth is around is because absinthe USED to be made with wormwood. Wormwood is toxic, and over time could cause brain damage... and that brain damage was what caused hallucinations (in other words, you had to drink absinthe MANY times to get them, and they didn't ever go away again once they came, even after sobering up). That toxic ingredient is the reason absinthe was made illegal. Having been removed from MOST forms of absinthe, however, the laws against absinthe in the United States were lifted and it's now perfectly legal to possess and dispose of just as any other alcohol.
Edit for Ari: you might not want to quote wikipedia, since it's the idiot's encyclopedia. To note: importation of absinthe made with wormwood is BANNED by customs (not illegal, but can be taken from you). However, as i already stated, most absinthe is made without the wormwood today. Don't trust wikipedia, Ari, it's written by users.

How much compared to prices at the local store? Absinthe is banned in the US (which is different from being illegal) and thus isn't sold in stores.
How much to sell to a friend? Probably what you payed for it. Maybe more maybe less depending on brand.
Remember, it's just alcohol, it's not hallucinogenic or poisonous beyond the alcohol.

I would sell it on e-bay if you want to make any money off it.
There are many different types of real absynth, made in different countries. Many states have laws against delivering alcohol by mail, so you need to check into that as well. I say to sell it on e-bay because it's relatively easy to order good absynth online to your home in the US, simply because the companies that sell it package it so that you can't tell it's alcohol. So, your best bet is to sell it and hope a collector buys it. Though if I were you, I'd save it for a special occasion.

I don't even know if it's legal in North America anymore. Check the L.C.B.O.

Its illegal. so dont try and put it on ebay unless you want a visit form law enforcement. You can order some online and you might recieve it,but, you might not and find yourself posting bail.
