If it isn't purple and swollen, then no, it isn't broken. You may have cracked or chipped the bone. If the pain persists for more than a couple of days, visit your doctor. I broke my hand by punching a wall once. It hurt REALLY BAD after the adrenaline wore off, and was swollen and useless. There is no "maybe" about it when you do break it. If it is broken, you will know it.

Y.ea my fridge gets out of line sometimes and I have to slap it around to. An appliance repair-man can tell you if it's broken. Just kidding around man, get it x-rayed thats the only way to tell and without treatment it can cause you problems later in life.Next time hit a pillow

Is it purple and swollen? Do you feel sick every time you move your hand? Can you move your hand/fingers?

If you answered no, then no it's not broken. You may have sprained it or bruised the bone.
