any kind of "infection" means that part of your body(your throat) has been contaminated with bacteria. The antibiotics are what kill the bacteria to make the infection go away. It might cause your throat to hurt, but is not contageous to other people.
Now, if you had a virus that was causing your throat to hurt, that is different, because antibiotics will not kill a virus, and neither will any drug really, so then you would just get prescribed something to help relieve the pain and/or other symptoms, while it works its way through your system. Also,If you had a virus it would be contageous to other people.
Make sure to take all of your antibiotics, this is important because if you don't take them all, very often the infection will not be totally dead and will come back again soon and next time it might be worse or what they call an "acute infection" Acute infections can be pretty serious and way harder to kill. Taking the whole prescription until it is gone will kill it dead for sure.
I hope this helped.

Throat infection can take place due to a number of reasons e.g.
U drink cold drinks or iced cold water, eat lots of Ice creams or sudden change of climate or the person sitting or standing next 2 U is suffering from similar problem and last but not least pollution in the area U stay. So no sooner U have the problem drink ginger
tea, keep a couple of cloves in your mouth to stop the irritation, then buy " Himalaya Products - Tulasi " . Swallow with a cup of milk one capsule in the morning and one at night and in a couple of days U will be fine. Antibiotics should be the last resort. If there is infection in ur throat then buy just 2 tablets of Erithamicin and U will get lots of relief from infection.

staphylicochus aureus (i don't think it's spelt correctly). It's a sort of yellow golden coloured microorganism that commonly causes throat infections. I'm not sure whether it is a bacteria or a virus, hope that helps, merry christmas and a happy new year!

Either a bacteria (sore throat, common cold,) or virus (requires the anibiotics you were prescribed, usually more serious.) I rarely get sick, but when I do, I drink a lot of orange juice and feel better in a couple days.

Yup - I hate them. Usually they're bacterial or viral. If they're viral you can't take any antibiotic - only for bacterial. Glad you're feeling better! Merry Christmas to you too!!:)
